    All the time, this is a common thing for me, I move so often that things are always put in certain places to be safe and they are so safe I am the last person who will find them. My husband was much worse than I am so it was always a nice surprise to find something where it was supposed to be

    The last thing put away was the attachments for my digital camera.I tore my house apart for 3 hours tryin to find them.They turned up under a pillow on the couch right next to wear i was sitting the night before.

    I usually do this with money! But have done it with quite a few things. Eventually I find it in the last place I would ever suspect. And most of the time not at all where I even remember being or putting it!

    Yes. I put my stepfathers dog tags that he gave to me in a very safe place and I do not for the life of me remember where I put them. Please keep your fingers crossed that I find them. They were very special to me.

    I once put a £20 note into a boot and couldn,t find it for months until i came to wear the boots, nice suprise at the time but so annoying when I couldn,t find it. I also hid a mobile phone in a coat pocket and several weeks later gave the coat to charity without realsing the phone was still in the pocket.

    I'm currently missing a pair of diamond earrings (a gift from my husband). They went missing about the same time we had workers in the house--two years ago. I still don't know if they 'walked' out the door, or if I hid them so well even I haven't found them yet. Sure hope I find'em.

    All the time. I put stuff in new places when I'm cleaning...at the time I do it, it's because I think the new home is more "logical," but I inevitably can't remember where I put it a week later...then I have to rip apart the room and move stuff to more logical places again...lol it's a vicious cycle!

    Everytime I put something away "where it will be safe," I forget where that place is. I suppose it's REALLY safe, if not even I can find it again. I hate that. I'm never putting anything away again.... just going to leave it in piles all over. That way, if I need something, I can just look through the piles, and nothing will be lost!

    Always! But my most recent one would have to be my train ticket to visit my family at Christmas. I was heart broken... but then found it after going and buying a new ticket...YAY me! So that just means I have to visit again!

    Yes I do that all the time so every so often I clean out a cupboard and I have found: the video camera missing 12 months, christmas cards I purchased in 2002, the stamps for the christmas cards purchased in 2002, an item of jewellery I bought for my step-daughter in 2004 and another item of jewellery I bought for her to give to her cousin - but I have misplaced that one again. I can't remember where I these items but they are in the house somewhere...and it is not that big a house, they can be in my wardrobe, the hall cupboards or the chest of drawers in the family room....or if they are not there then they gotta be somewhere else....I may have a black hole that sucks stuff up and spits it out at random in another location...or it could be in the laundry cupboard or at the back of the towel cupboard near the bathroom.....THEY GOTTA BE SOMEWHERE!!!

    I am always thinking of better places for things. I should never do this because I still look in the old place. I can never get used to the new place, IF I even remember the new place. And I have people who work in my home, so nothing is ever where I put it anyway. Why try?

    When I was a kid, about 10 I think, so about 1970, I had a $20 bill that I had gotten for my birthday. This was enormous amount of money to me at the time. I hid it real good. Problem was a couldn't find later. I found it about a year later, in the Encyclpedia book M, page Money.

    All the time... maybe I should leave myself clues... that way, I can be entertained by a mystery everytime I want to find something important... that is if I don't stumble across it and forget that I put it there and either throw it away or move it.. then my clues will lead to an empty spot.

    I do this all the time and its soooo frustrating. My mom always used to say to me "If your head wasnt attached, you'd misplace that too!"

    I know that its just me not paying a lot of attention to a small detail at times and thats when I misplace things.

    I have however, misplaced the first piece of jewelry that my husband gave me when we were dating and I am beside myself! I may have lost it but I really don't recall what happened! Gotta send out a search party at home...lol

    Yes. I had lost the ring my dad had gotten me for my 16th birthday when I was 17.. it vibrated off my finger when riding a four wheeler ..it broke my heart because it meant a lot to me. . he got me another ring when I was 23 .. I swore to myself I would take care of it .. I hid it when I was 26 and have never found it.

    on my bed theres a knob thing that comes off and i hid my jewellry in there thinking if any1 broke into my house they would never look there but i ended up forgetting where i hid my jewellry and im always doing stuff like that

    NO, I have a very good memory.Better long term than short and "knock on wood"I have never locked my keys in the car or forgot my parking spot and I have parked on levels and faraway.I am shocked myself when I think about this question that I have never forgot now the only thing is shopping if I dont rite a list I may forget what the objective of going to the store in the first place is so i rite it down it is better to be safe than to be sorry.My true safe keeping is my mind.

    Oh man, I am so plagued by this affection, it isn't even funny. I hid my son's MP3 player last year and bought him another... just stumbled on it in the shopping bag full of clothes I was preparing to take to the thrift store. Right now I am looking for something I "tucked away" night before last. The only method I've found that sometimes works is cleaning the house. My house is getting very clean today.

    I have this overwhelming fear that I have somehow tossed items in the trashcan. When something is lost, I won't take out the trash until I find it and usually end up going through it (ick) like I did this morning.

    Why oh why do I do this? How can I stop myself? It's soooooo frustrating.

    I found a $20 in a coat, I forgot I hide there. Boy, was I happy! I was 15 years old, at the time, and broke! Look Out Mexico, here I come! I lived in El Paso, TX at the time.
