  • I don't think it's weird at all. My niece has her moms name. I think it's cute actually. A mini-you :)
  • I really like the idea of a woman naming her daughter after her. Who says that men are the only ones who can do that? If you want to do that, go ahead and do it! There is no need to conform to tradition. Few still do that anyway.
  • Why not?
  • Many people who were named after their parents don't like it. Once they're in their teens and start socializing it becomes an identity problem. Who do you want to talk to? Kids want their own identity. They're like people that way.
  • My friend's mom named her youngest daughter after her.I don't see anything wrong w/ it:)
  • It's much less common, but not completely rare. No, it's not weird. When i was young, i had a friend named Sheila K, just like her mother. Nobody seemed to think it was weird or even commented on it. If there was a chance of confusion we would call her young Sheila and her mother either the older Sheila or Sheila the mom, or sometimes Sheila's mom. It might even be correct to say Sheila, Sr. and Sheila, Jr, since these terms simply mean older and younger. To many ears this, though, might sound strange, because we are so accustomed to applying the terms to males. Most of us wouldn't think of calling a girl 'Junior'. So, yes, you are welcome to pass your name on to your daughter. If you like your name and want to share it, i think it's great. I think that more often, women who want to give their daughters their names will give it as a middle name. Still, all this is simply custom; there's no rule. You might even make her first name hers and call her by her middle name if there's confusion. The choices are many. If your name has worked well for you, it can work just as well for her. Hope this helps.
  • I personally do not like the Mini MEs. But thats me. I think most people like to have their own identity.
  • Too weird? WHO CARES WHAT PEOPLE THINK!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU
  • I think it would be great! Specially if you want to be a good role model for your daughter.
