  • y wud they do tht if they hav NO REAZUN???... surely ther mus be SOMTHIN for thm to act like tht... right???... peace!!!
  • No, I don't think so. If they have good reason and they think that their child may be endangering their welfare or that of others, then fair enough. But every child is entitled to privacy, and I don't think it's a bad thing to have secrets or things they would rather keep to themselves. I used to keep a diary but had suspicions my father was reading it, so I destroyed it; which is sad because I'd love to be able to look back on them now. I think it's better to have a relationship with your child where you can say, 'If something is wrong, or you need to talk, I'm here, any time, any day. I won't be mad, we'll just deal with it.' I remember being about 16/17 and my mother knew there was a possibility I would soon become sexually active since I had a long term boyfriend and she gave me a stern warning to be careful - but if anything did happen, she would be there for me.
  • I don't think so. It's unfair to not trust people a little before they give you a reason not too. I'm not saying ignore suspicions but don't jump to conclusions either
  • I would think going through a kids room is wrong, for any reason. They should have privacy like anyone else.As a child I would have appreciated it.
  • No, they have the right to privacy too.
  • No! A parent should have a suspicion about something first. Just being a teenager isn't reason enough to think they are up to anything.
  • It depends on the child and the circumstances. Perhaps the parent simply has a very bad feeling about something. A teen might see that as no reason, but a worried parent that trusts their instincts would think it's plenty.
  • No - better to allow them their privacy and to let them know that they are trusted.
  • No, absolutely not. There are much better ways to approach things than to resort to spying/snooping. That shows them they're not trusted, and in return, they won't trust you.
  • Quite succinctly, no.
  • if you are talking about kids cars, then the kids are obviously old enough to have their own lives! So, lets assume your kids are old enough to drive - is it ok for the kids to go through your stuff? why? why not?
