Look out the window. Tornadoes don't happen very often in Oregon.

We usually step outside and look at the clouds. Since we live in Kansas we pretty know what to expect if their is really a tornado spotted on the ground. If it is close by then we will go to the basement.

We go to the basement and sit in a small room with blankets and pillows. We also bring down our house phone along with a cell phones and a radio so we can keep in touch with family members and know what going on with the weather.

Stare out our windows. Tornados are rare in CT.

Well, I run around in circles, yelling, "Tornado, tornado", waving my hands wildly. The rest of the family is dead. They basically did the same.

We quickly grab the dictionary to find out if a tornato warning is as bad as a tornado warning. The book does not list a tornato warning so we continue to eat supper.

Go into the bathroom and listen to the radio. I like looking out the window to see if I can spot one but my son has an insane fear of them and will not be in any room he doesn't deem completely safe.

I am with the Kansan. I go outside and look at the sky and listen for the sound. I have never seen a tornado. Way back in the fifties I heard one in the dark.

we find the flashlights, locate the candles, agree to an escape plan, make sure there is drinking water in the fruit cellar, and then we wait for the rain to start going horizontal...when that happens we run to the fruit cellar and lock the door.

We stand by the basement door area and watch the storm until you get that feeling that you should go in the basement...the pressure changes...your body knows....
