Silk was a luxury item from a time before materials could be manufactured to mimic its feel. Is true silk an outdated product?

silk, cotton, linen, wool, leather, none of these could ever be outdated. there is no substitute for any of them. on the other hand, there are many synthetic fabrics that haves come and gone. do they make "ultressa" any more?

You can't just throw a silk item into the washing machine nor can you hand-wash it..if you do, it will be ruined. But there is nothing that feels as soft on the skin as silk. It is a lovely material. I hope it isn't outdated..that would be sad. There is entirely too much in our lives that is fabricated out of chemicals..it would be sad to lose another true/real/natural thing like silk. :)

Aren't there man-made produsts available that are just as soft, yet are more durable?
