You are saving for wedding, & there is a person you have been helping financially for 1 year, you told the person you are saving for wedding, but they still ask for funds through the week for what you feel are unecessary things, are they selfish?

As long as there's a free hand out people will always keep coming back. If this is your current plight simply tell them you don't have any extra funds as there are some unforeseen expenses you have to address.

I find it a lot less stressful to not give money, but instead purchase necessary goods and services. That way, I still help, but my help isn't squandered.

Not really, since you have been helping this person financially then I would imagine they expect you to continue.

of course they are asking for money...why wouldn't they. If they are getting it then they are going to continue to ask. i'd stop giving them money.
