  • Oh hell no! Not me
  • Not at school, but my all girls swim lessons and team when I was 10/11 was all nude. There were about 8 of us and all ages 10-12. Also when I joined the all girls community center in Alaska, it was girls only and the requirments were to swim nude.
  • Yes, and I can't think of anyone (male, that is) in my age group (late 50s) who didn't. It was done everywhere from time the first pools showed up (around the turn of the century) through the late 70s. Boys only,of course; girls were such delicate flowers they were exempt, and wore suits. How was nonsense justified? The official reason (always question the official reason) was that the fibers from boys' swim suits would clog the filters. Obvious drivel, unless you believe there was something magical about girl's suits that didn't make them clog the filters. In point of fact, it had to do with more subtle social messages and changing sex roles. Boys grew to be manly men, unafraid of a little public nudity. Besides, there was a draft, and a war or two, and it was a good way to produce subserviant males. And believe me, there isn't much of a better way to render you docile and subserviant than to remove your clothes. Only humans wear clothes, and denying you them is one way to diminish your humanity. Girls were on a different career track. Supposedly non sexual, their only interest was deemed to be babies. And in order to keep them modest, and disinterested in s-e-x, they were clothed. There is, after all, an erotic aspect to nudity; in this case, it was homo erotic, but there is eroticism involved, anyway. Girls wore suits because nudity might have been a bit (dare I say it?) stimulating, and have led to impure thoughts about s-e-x. This all ended around 1980, with the sexual integration of YMCA's and physical education classes. No loss; I hated it. Swam nude the last time 42 years ago, and I'm still mad about it, that kind of humiliation sticks with you. Curiously, if you check some of the forums where they discuss this, a lot of men are nostalgic for it. Go figure.
  • You have GOT to be kidding!! ;D
  • Never had swimming at my school. But at the local Boys Club, it was a requirement to be nude in the pool until 2006, when it became unisex.
  • Nahh I'm good aye! +5
