Supporting documentation from LDS Scripture as well as the historical record: "If he will do my will let him from henceforth hearken to the counsel of my servant Joseph, and with his interest support the cause of the poor and publish the new translation of my holy word unto the inhabitants of the earth." (Doctrine and Covenants 124:89) "We this day finished the translating of the scriptures, for which we returned gratitude to our Heavenly Father... having finished the translation of the Bible a few hours since...." (LDS Prophet Joseph Smith, LDS President Sidney Rigdon, and LDS President F. G. Williams; History of the Church, Volume 1, pages 368-369, July 2, 1833). So the work was indeed COMPLETED - per Joseph Smith's written testimony. Yet as B.H. Roberts noted 61-years after D&C 124 was dictated to the LDS Church: "It was the intention of the Prophet to have this revised version of the Scriptures, which he had made with such laborious care, published in Zion, at the printing establishment of the Church in that place... but before the work could even be commenced persecution arose which made the undertaking impracticable. And such was the unsettled state of the Church throughout the remaining years of the Prophet's life that he found no opportunity to publish the revised Scriptures, and to this day there is no authoritative publication of his translation of the Old and New Testament given to the world.... (LDS Church Historian B. H. Roberts, footnote to "History of the Church" Vol. 1, page 324, 1902) However, not such unsettled state has existed for some time now. In fact, the LDS Church hasn't been in an unsettled state since B.H. Roberts wrote these words - so the why hasn't the LDS to this day obeyed the dictate of D&C 124:89 and published the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible?

Firstly, even in the final months of his life, Joseph Smith Jr was still making changes. Secondly, The Community of Christ (formerly RLDS) have the copyright to the JST. Thirdly, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints DOES publish portions of the JST in the LdS Edition of the King James Version of the Bible - these are portions which the CoC has agreed to share.

Clearly the Salt Lake City based LdS Church is disobedient to their Prophet's revelation. Therefore, we have yet another evidence that the LdS Church is apostate relative to the teachings of Joseph Smith and restored LdS Theology. On the other hand the RLDS (now "Community of Christ") DID, "...publish the new translation of my holy word unto the inhabitants of the earth..." in 1867. http://www.centerplace.org/hs/iv/hsfore.htm It tends to make one think . . .
