I don't think you don't have to tell them, really, just say you're not interested.. But if you do have some reason to say it, just be straightforward & honest about it, that you're a content atheist (right)? That's what my brother does.

My sister had problems with the Mormons that used to stop by her house. My BIL had chatted with them before, but he got a job out of town, and is usually gone when they come. She told them they weren't interested in the Mormon religion, and would they stop coming by. They told her "we need to have a signed statement from your husband to stop coming by." I thought that was a ridiculous thing for them to ask for.

If you have no desire to talk with the Latter-day Saints that keep coming to your door, then simply tell them this. If you truly no longer wish to be associated with the Church, then you should talk to you local leaders about having your name taken off of the rolls of the Church. Personally, I am sorry that you feel this way, but I also respect your right to follow your own conscience. ************** "sford77: I am genuinely curious, why are you sad that I feel this way?" Because I am LDS and I believe the precepts taught by this Church. I am always saddened when someone rejects what I think is the ultimate key to happiness and eternal life. However, I do respect your right to choose your own path in this life and do wish you the best life you can have.
