I rarely KNOW for sure who it might be...but I do rather despise members who will rate you down, but fail to give any suggestion as to WHY they choose to do so. I almost never rate down, because most of this is all about OPINION, and even if I disagree, that doesn't mean the other person is WRONG in their opinion! Tough on me if I don't like it or agree...get over it! Is my attitude generally speaking. As for what I might do...I sometimes will post a comment under my own original post...without naming names...just something calling "them" on it in a sarcastic/joking statement...I can only give so much energy to such a chicken hearted or poorly handled response of a negative rating. If they have commented, THEN I can review my post and see if there is something that validates their response to me...I can rethink what I had to say, stand by it, or make changes if it was something that connected with me. It also opens the door to (hopefully) logical, or informative debate!

I know who is trolling me in a few cases, sometimes I mention it to them in a comment, other times I ignore it. It depends. Once someone commented that they just said that they disagreed with my perfectly valid answer (on an opinion question) and therefore they voted me down... I quickly demonstrated to them why this is not the way people should use the rating system by voting down two of their opinion questions explaining that I was using their logic, which was clearly flawed. I also said that if everyone rated down valid answers, AB would be in chaos! That user now no longer rates down valid opinions. Nothing. I get trolled a lot and I know at least one of the high rollers that does it but I will not play the game and return the downrates, that is pathetic, I am not that desperate for points that I will play silly games to get them Nor do I think I am infallible or that much wiser than other people to denigrate their beliefs or ideas by down rating what they have to say
