  • We believe that while we live in and are subject to the laws of the countries we live in, we consider ourselves as citizens of Jehovah's Kingdom(government). As such we do not get involved with any of the political processes including serving in the Armed Services.
  • Jehovah’s Witnesses refused to put on military uniforms and take up arms but, during the past half century and more, they have also declined to do noncombatant service or to accept other work assignments as a substitute for military service. Why? Because they have studied God’s requirements and then made a personal, conscientious decision. No one tells them what they must do. Nor do they interfere with what others choose to do. But when called on to explain their position, Jehovah’s Witnesses have made it known that, as persons who have presented themselves to God in dedication, they are obligated to use their bodies in his service and cannot now hand these over to earthly masters who are acting contrary to God’s purpose.—Rom. 6:12-14; 12:1, 2; Mic. 4:3. Neutrality Definition: The position of those who do not take sides with or give support to either of two or more contending parties. It is a fact of ancient and modern-day history that in every nation and under all circumstances true Christians have endeavored to maintain complete neutrality as to conflicts between factions of the world. They do not interfere with what others do about sharing in patriotic ceremonies, serving in the armed forces, joining a political party, running for a political office, or voting. But they themselves worship only Jehovah, the God of the Bible; they have dedicated their lives unreservedly to him and give their full support to his Kingdom. In light of the above, I can tell you that no one who is active Jehovah's Witness would ever engage in any kind of military service. Someone can claim to be whatever they want but strict neutrality is a component of being a servant of Jehovah. If you know someone who is in active military service and they are talking to you about Jehovah, they are either studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses or are a former member.
  • Skip_2_My_Lou: you can read what happened to JWs who were asked to participate in military forces during World War II. Our principles have not changed since :) http://www.watchtower.org/e/20030301/article_01.htm
  • no you can't, i was a chaplain's att. in the army, and no chaplain wanted to to be a Jehovah's witt. anything but that.
  • I am a long-time JW and often take the "Far Side" position in answering questions. While i agree with my brothers and sisters, my initial answer may appear to be the opposite of the typical response. Here goes: All JW's are in the Army. We've enlisted for life. Of course, a person can't serve 2 armies at once. Therefore, we belong to no worldly army. As citizens of God's Kingdom, we all serve in spiritual warfare and are committed to the defense of our nation. Ephesians 6:10-17 explains both our manner of warfare and our battle equipment. So, while i happen to be American by birth and strive to be a good citizen, i cannot join the US Army because i already have pledged my alliegence to another commander. My brothers in China, Russia, Iraq, Korea or any other land have made the same commitment (or better said, dedication). Since we are all members belonging to the same army, it is unthinkable that we would ever lift arms against one another. Our position is to let the armies of the world fight out their battles as they see fit. We have a higher calling. So, asked if we would go to war, the simple answer is 'We are at war now and will be until the New World takes over the earth.
  • I have known at least 6 Jehovah's witnesses serving in the Army. They needed the jobs as they were going hungry in civilian life. 4 of the 6 got Dishonorable Discharges the other General within 2 years of entering. Seems they eventually objected to putting on those uniforms and saluting the flag. And there is that famous case of a A-10 pilot about 1994. Whose parents were JW's and he probably was but denied it. He flew his weapons laden plane into the side of a mountain. And Dwight Eisenhower was the most famous JW. His whole family was. Then he went to West Point, still a JW. Sometime between graduation and WWI he quit and never returned. His father and brother quit about 1926. His mother never did quit. Didn't seem to bother her having Dwight visit in uniform. And he attended his father's JW funeral in uniform. One thing though. It was called River People Back then because of meeting location. Still headed by Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania though. Missed that about only JW's answering. They will say no. I simply say as things have actually happened. And Post Office uniforms don't seem to bother them, as long as no US flag is on it. I've probably known 30 JW's working for the USPS.
  • I see Charles Taze Russel was buried in Texas and had to mention the nice Masonic Cross on his grave marker stating IN HOC SIGNO VINCENES. And notably his grave is a Pyramid and includes a Masonic cross and crown. It also reads Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society. Now I know I previously saw where Russell was antimasonic. Big question is why the WTS has not replaced Russel" satanically inspired tomb? I used Yahoo Search for WATCH TOWER SOCIETY STAFF and it was first item up. Oh! And Wikipedia says 7 million members world wide. Watch Tower Claimed 11 Million. I estimated 8 million. I was pretty close. Everything from WTS always comes up bogus. They ought to cite truth once in a while just for some credibility. On my search. Yes I am after the responsible parties at the top. They are the ones needing be exposed most. (Correction. I believe first buried in Texas as he died there. I believe following sent to his current tomb in Pittsburgh)
  • Just stumbled on why JW's hate Mormons so much. Mormons publish a newsletter called the Watchman. It reports the truth about Watch Tower Society Lies. Think I will be attending some Mormon activities for the immediate allies. And YES! The Mormon Watchman proves and cites it's credible news, government and media sources. I've been holding back. Now I have so much and getting more evidence. As to you JW's, you poor, pathetic, ignorant stooges. Get yourself some eyeglasses, read some reliable information. Quit reading and listening to that propaganda. Fine if you retain the beliefs. Nothing wrong there. It is the organization itself, rotten from the head.
  • "You put words in my mouth. That is Dishonest" I would like that one explained. Is someone putting those words in your mouth by applying a blow torch to your bare feet? Your statements get sillier all the time. You need to come up with better material.
  • In the US provisions are made for religious objectors. Just looked up the laws on that. Such are offered alternate service. Such as working in a hospital or other community services. I believe, were I to investigate individual cases of JW's going to prison, they rejected those alternatives. Nothing wrong with opposing war. I oppose the current one. But I still take a part in my government and society as it is my responsibility. Were it not for people opposing their governments or helping improve their society, the world would be in a much bigger mess.
  • Got it from a language expert. The Language of Jesus was Aramaic not Hebrew, though Jesus probably knew some Greek, Hebrew and Latin as well. But the name of Jesus would be: Eshua, Eshoa, or Eshoo. His full name would be Yah o shua translating Yah bringness restores. And the name of God is Alaha very close to Arabic Allah. I was aware of many similarities with Arabic and Aramaic. And I can speak and read Arabic. This guy is no fool. Rahmaneh of the Aramaic Institute. Looks like JW's should regroup. The word Jehovah again seems to originate in England in 1604 by a John Druisus . All readily available on Wikipedia. However, that is not my favorite encyclopedia. I prefer Encyclopedia Britannica or Colliers No J in Aramaic either. Might consider Jesus giving sermons in Greek. And a J in Latin is a sure thing. Sure looks like JW's have been following a purely English word created for god for a century, maybe a century and a half.
  • The bible states Christians must obey and submit to both God and government. God`is`always`right. But government sometimes isn't. So long as`governments`law`don't conflict with God's (previously given Laws) we must obey our government. It's`only when governments law conflicts with God's`Law that we`can disregard our government. See Romans chapter 13 compare with Titus`3:1 Acts 5:29 offers the only exception for why it's sometimes permissiable to defy the gov't. Some wars`are`righteous and just and others aren't.....each situation requires`careful scruitney and prayerful guidance. 0 on the other hand
  • A simple NO is the answer. Jehovah's Witnesses do not participate in any branch of the military. :)If someone joined the military they would not be considered being in the JW organization.
