nah. If I am talking to them about something important, then I shouldn't be doing it via IMing. If I need to talk to them, I can just give 'em a call cuz, I know they're nearby the computer and more than likely there's a phone somewhere

No because even if you have a great connection, MSN and Yahoo still crash. It happens really often to me.

I think I'd be concerned first, and would be contacting them to make sure they were okay. I was on a phone when we had a car accident years ago (I wasn't driving!) and my brother in law was worried that I suddenly stopped speaking to him.

Nope. Things come up! I am guilty of doing this myself...Also, I use MSN, and it is KNOWN to crash for no reason!

Meh it's instant messenger, if they did that in person I'd be offended lol but otherwise it doesn't bother me considering the instability of the internet and messaging clients.

Nope the internet crashes all the time, so its not a big deal. And also stuff comes up.
