I guess your question is: can anyone think of a single country where Socialism has worked? Thus my reply is how about the whole of Europe (EU) not including Russia and the C.I.S. which are mainly communist.

No pure economic paradigm can work. Socialism has been closely aligned with dictatorships and therefore becomes a pariah in the eyes of some of us who erroneously believe we live in a pure capitalistic economy. Capitalism works ONLY when the capitalists at the top of the food chain operate in a fair and honest manner. Pure capitalism was the goal of the Bush administration when the governmental controls were lifted and the result is our current economic disaster. More importantly, the cure for the attempt at pure capitalism is going to be some form of socialism. The world is not black and white, rather various shades of gray.

How about Canada, England, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, all have some form of socialism in their government, and all are doing pretty well.

Nice loaded question. I have yet to see a country that was purely socialist or communist. In fact, I have yet to see a country that is purely capitalistic either, at least not in my lifetime. Socialism to some degree or another has worked fine in this country and others. Trying to run a government based on any one economic ideology is pointless because they all have weaknesses. Why not just title this question "I hate Obama. do you?" and skip a lot of rhetoric?
