Okay call me stupid but what is a madrassa?

I dont know what a madrassa is, but I assume it is a school of some kind,,,, but I think Barack Obama is not someone I would vote for to be President anyway. I dont think he has enough experience.

It's pretty ridiculous. I mean, so he went to school in Indonesia? So What? I mean, spending your time in studying in Indonesia is better than spending your time mooching off daddy while you know you'll be able to get into an Ivy League college no matter what you do. Right?

My son and I were talking about this same thing today. I received an email saying that Barack Obama is really a muslim. The email said he masquerades as a Roman Catholic. I do not really know much about him at all and I assume that much of the email is propoganda. If it is fact, Americans will face a tough decision. Are Americans ready for this? I believe this will hinder his bid for the nomination. If the media is agressive in reporting, dicussing, and analyzing this, he will most certainly lose the nomination, muslim or not.

First of all I thought Fox was being a bit silly to expect us to all rise howling with outrage over what school Obama went to as a KID. I took piano lessons from Catholic nuns - and yet I am not Catholic. Second I wanted to know where they got this information. Third I laughed when the story was pretty much debunked.

Who cares! He earned his Juris Doctor degree from Havard, so even if he did go to one, it obviously did him a lot of good.

It's not a big deal at all; a news team visited the Muslim school in question and it is seemingly secular and harmless, just as any other school...

My thoughts? Fox is trying to play on racism, fear, and religious bigotry to damage a candidate they do not support. Fox was being deceptive, as usual. And as usual, they will get away with it for people who don't have the time or the resources to get the real story. "Madrassa" is a word for "school" and that's all. It doesn't even mean "religious school" -- it means public schools too, like the one Obama went to. Fox News was reporting that his grammar school in Indonesia was like the notorious Islamic madrassas on the Pakistani-Afghani border, SOME of which (not all, even there) train little boys to prepare for jihad (holy war) against everyone who is not of their particular sect of Islam. The public school Obama went to educates girls and boys together, in Western-style school uniforms, with Christians, Buddhists, and Confucianists in attendance as well as Muslims. My first question is, what were they teaching at that school then? What was the curriculum? How many tears ago was that? In the late 70's or early 80's. I do not remember Islam having many radical schools back then.

Is this a new Obama expose'? I'm out of the loop...I stopped watching Fox when they appointed themselves the anti-Obama network.

Fascinating Captain. I find it ironic that if Obama did, many Conservatives seem to assume that even if he did get any "muslim" indoctrination, it obviously didn't take. This is curious. Conservatives constanly whine about the 'evils' of secular training. Yet they themselves go to the very schools they're afraid of, and they still remain Conservative. A lot of conservatives breath the very same air that the Terrorists breath. Hmmmm......

You know, in the ridiculous days of McCarthyism, one used to hear the word 'unAmerican' bandied around a lot. It has in the past struck me as a rather silly word, but reading about Fox recently has made me feel that if anyone deserves that description, Fox certainly does.

Even if he did, so what?! I haven't followed this story so don't know the truth of it, nor do I imagine I would care even if I were American. Its just a Muslim school. Big deal.

This is why we supposedly free press. Now, when someone tries to tell what they see as the truth, the government tries to discredit them. This is NOT a good trend!

Please read the whole answer before you DR me. Let me preface this by saying I can not stand Obama. In my oppinion he's a horrible president and the sooner he's out of office the better. I'm sure he did attend a madrassa. Where Fox is wrong here is in spinning that madrassa means anything more than a school ANY SCHOOL. Madrasah (Madrassa) is the Arabic word for any type of educational institution, whether secular or religious (of any religion). So yea, I'm sure he went to school. See even those who don't support the koolaid man can still be somewhat objective!

I think that is true and even mentioned in his life history. Personally I believe this could have some impact on his thinking process. As I have seen madrassas even though are just schools but misused to teach hard core fundamentalism. But Obama seemingly a nice guy being lived in this country.

I think this is terribly, terribly important to know. . Madrassa is just the Arabic word for "school." Now, it COULD mean either a secular or a religious school. But the world deserves answers! . Fox also needs to follow this up with an in-depth expose on his alleged indoctrination as a secret German agent when he attended "kindergarten." . The very word strikes fear in my heart. What have we done?
