Rabbits can become fertile as young as 10-12 weeks of age. That is why they need to be weaned and separated from each other at that time, and not placed with any other rabbit, regardless of sex from then on unless they are neutered. Plus rabbits can become pregnant twice, they can carry another litter while they are already pregnant because they have two lobes or horns of their uterus. Again, that is why a buck shouldn't be anywhere near a doe after mating with her once since he can do it again, whether two days later or three weeks later. And that is just too often for both the doe and the kits as it's very physically draining and oftentimes kills the kits since she doesn't have the strength to take care of two litters after two pregnancies at the same time.
