I have tried that in the past...but most of the unanswered questions are things that I am not qualified to answer...like how to fix the steering on a 1954 Pontiac....or how to assemble a whatzit.
-
omg thats a great idea, have an unanswered question day! that should help alot of people. +4
-
I can't answer most of those. I don't know what's causing this illness or how to fix your car or game console or computer.
-
I like it!
-
its a good idea in theory but i have been through that pile and can honestly say that it is very unlikely many of them will be answered. i can't fix that car, i don't know that comedian. i wouldn't be useful to be honest.

Soo...we just abandon all the people who find pills and don't know what they are? What do we do with people who think they might be pregnant? Or what if someone's furnace goes out and they freeze but they can't ask a question because we're still too busy answering questions about Bush & Brangolina (Brad & Angelina?) No. We can not abandon them. LOL
-
It sounds like a good idea, but 3000 of those pages are "what does this family name mean?" Some person on here likes to ask questions, and doesnt really care if he gets answers, he just keeps on asking.
-
no. i think we must put qeestions in the front of our people so any one who know the answer of some question then he or she can give some idea about that and we get idea to solve that problem
-
Sure it sounds good. But when you have people throwing questions like "Why?" and other brain dead questions, there's going to be a heap, and rightfully so :)
-
Have you thought about how lame those questions might have been hence the reason they were ignored?
-
Not a bad idea ... especially if it would clean out a lot of the questions that continue to get REPETED ...
-
I would rather just the people who have unanswered questions that would REALLY like an answer to post them all in one place... Say... here. The rest of the useless questions can fall by the wayside. We'll start with you... Which of your current 42 questions do you most want answers to? :D
-
No... I don't think so. Sure, there are 5400 pages of unanswered questions. All it takes is for someone who knows the answers in given categories to go through them. I did it with Answerbag questions, and got it down from close to 50, I think, to under 20. And I'm trying to KEEP it that way. The other problem is that many question that SHOULD be in certain categories are all over the bag. For some reason, people who ask the question, or those who have flagged them before (and the staff moderators who accepted the flag) have put them into wrong categories. Now, yes, there are a lot of unanswered questions, but someone, somewhere, sometime, will answer them, especially if they get into the correct categories. Remember, though, there are THOUSANDS of questions about various subjects that no one on AB wish to or CAN answer. When someone who can joins, they will be.
-
No thanks. I need fresh questions constantly to remind me I'm alive.
-
I mostly answer the unanswered, but a lot I can't answer, and a lot are nonsense. I do try!!
-
If people had been able to answer them they would probably have been answered before now. We are all looking for questions to answer. They are usually specialist questions and outside our sphere of knowledge.
-
some are really stupid and immature questions that i have no care to answer - maybe they should be deleted after a given amount of time

Sounds good to me! Here are those of mine, that have never been answered, but curiously, some of them have been rated: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1451591 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1451555 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1451518 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1451501 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1450721 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1449608 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1449584 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1449532 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1449517 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1442838 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1441572 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1441373 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1441353 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1439459 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1438869 http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/1438322

I tend to side with you. I think so many people are worried about the point system that they forget why this site exsists.
-
I think that's a bad idea because most of them are unanswered for a reason, usually the question requires specific answers which most don't have or they aren't worth answering. I do look them over at times and try to answer what I know, but there aren't that many. I do that each day.
-
Oh please no. First, these kinds of restrictions lock some of the otherwise everyday features of the site, and any more and this place will be closed on the weekends or require confirmation before anything you submit can be posted, like he official Stephen King forums. People would just loose interest. I realize you mean just for one day, but all those questions, if they couldn't be answered then, most of them wouldn't be anymore answered now.
-
Bad idea. I have looked through many of those pages and most of those questions are "am I pregnant, does he like me", HW CHEATING, or specific questions like on auto trouble, etc..if we had known the answers they would have been answered by now. Chances are if AB shut the site down a day people would just not log on and nothing would still be accomplished. I think AB should just wipe those questions off and start again but they won't..but some of them..probably most of them will never get answered.

I suggested no new questions to be submitted for a week and priority should be given to the unanswered questions. ANd instead of a topic of the day question, there should be a top ten unanswered questions of the day.
