Help answer this question below.
If my theory is correct and God is a sadistic bastard using us all as pawns in his sick sick game, then yes. How else would you explain my utter failure at every, and I mean every, sport?
I don't honestly think God could care less.
Nope - each team is praying for a win! God's impartial, I think.

An Athlete's Prayer
Author: Sandy Dow Mapula
It was right before the big one and the football player said,
“Excuse me guys for just a sec while I go bow my head.”
And in the quiet of that room
The football player prayed,
“Oh God if nothing hear me now
I know that fate is made.”
“So help us Lord to win this game,
It’s the big one, man, you see,
If we lose this game that’s it for us,
Please do this, Lord, for me.”
And as his body knelt in prayer,
He looked up to the sky,
“And while I’m here, and have some time,
I need to ask you why?”
“They say you never help teams win,
Just do it once I pray,
We will pay you back in kinder deeds
Or in another way,”
“The reason why I can’t help you win,”
The Lord just then replied,
“Is as you’re asking me to win,
So is the other side.”
“I’m everybody’s father and
I must not take one side,
So games are played all on your own
Or they would all be tied.”
“But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t pray,”
He answered him with care,
“You can pray that players don’t get hurt
And that all the calls are fair,”
And while the player heard this voice,
He bowed his head in prayer,
“I pray for fairness,” said the boy
“And for your tender care.”
“You shall be blessed,” the Lord replied,
“Your team and you the same,
And now will you excuse me boy,
I cannot miss this game.”
Only when God is up front in mid field in the heaven and hell football premiership, known as 'hell's angels'. Unfortunatly for God though, he had a knee injury and so Hell is in the lead. Woo! *dances with pom poms*
No, I think God set in motion the laws of physics and the laws of physics determine the outcome of sporting events.
Even with the ballroom dance team we prayed that God would help bring us closer together (the team) but we never asked God to help us win.
Yeah, I think She's a big fan. Many people's careers and lives depend upon sporting events. It is its own subeconomy. Those people's jobs support and feed them and their families. Why would such a dependency be overlooked by Deity?
Yes, you better believe. Every player is a puppet with strings attached to His fingers. If he feels like screwing up, you have lost.
nope, money has a hand in that
Only if God played the Odds and gets his bet in on
time !
(kidding..)
Yes God Affects EVERYTHING !
G-d sure ain't a Leaf fan, EH!
No, but I think somebody does...with money.
This question is under the assumption that God does in fact exist and we are all not living in chaos. If God exists, then he affects all aspects of our existence, including sporting events.
God is the belief system of many people. In order to succeed in something, no matter what it be, you need to believe in something to help you have faith in yourself. Therefore, anything, be it god or whatever, can help anyone through anything if they believe in it.
If your religion is your way of life, your devotion, then anything that happens, anything that crosses your path, any oppertunity given to you, you will turn to it. Because that is what you believe in. To you, that's enough to get you through anything.
Others, like me, may have different belief systems. For example, myself. I believe in many different things, the main one being "You can achieve anything you set your mind to." Tat is what I look up to when I'm down about what I'm doing. That makes me gain confidence, because I know I can do anything.
Everyone has a different belief system that helps them through anything.
You never know, as the saying goes: "God works in mysterious ways"

I have rated you down for foul words towards God, not nessesary
by Skip_2_My_Lou on January 25th, 2007
Soul, she is entitled to her opinion. If you rate down for profanity in general, that's one thing. Profanity towards Deity only is pretty prejudiced behavior on your part. Satine, take +6.

yea of course, and I gave my opinion by rating :)
by Skip_2_My_Lou on January 25th, 2007
I will remain silent.

Yes, you did Soul...and rating someone down for not conforming to your religious beliefs isn't an act I respect. That's my opinion. I can use that standard with you, though, if you prefer. (I'm Wiccan.)
by AntigoneRising on January 25th, 2007
I don't care if you are Wiccan, that is your choice of belief and so you can go off and do so.
