  • Even the Bible says that there were others other than Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve were simply the first Jews or the first "chosen people" who all of the prophets and kings of the OT and Jesus (from the house of David) trace their ancestry to. Even in the Bible, it says that Seth took a wife and that the descendants of Adam and Eve mixed in with other peoples (the nephilim in some translations or the "giants" in others) which then takes the reader into the Noah story.
  • Actually, Yeah they say Adam & Eve, but didn't everyone die in the flood when Noah had to build the Ark? Wouldn't THAT leave only Noah and Mrs. Noah to repopulate??? Or am I missing something obvious?
  • Well, Adam and Eve's offspring found their spouses in the Land of Nod. Where did those people come from? Too many questions lead to too many other questions.
  • Easy, Adam and Eve were not real, it's just one of many mythological tales in the bible. There were many humans on earth a million years ago and from breeding, cross-breeding, inter-breeding, we get the varience in human DNA. It's really quite simple when you think about, but it did take over a million years to reach what we have now, modern human DNA, and it's still going on today. As long as humans are on this earth, our DNA will continue to change, or something like that. :-)
  • Inbreeding in the Bible Belt. ;)
  • HAHAHAAA If there is a God at all, there is a million reasons for everything. Adam and Eve were supposed to be on earth thousands of years ago. I'd easily believe it's possible for there to be such a varience in human DNA after that long.
  • It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. What matters is, what is your relationship with GOD. The book of Genesis isn't a story of creation. It is a history of the Jews. Where did Cain and Abel find wives?, did Adam have a belly button?, how did all those animals fit on one boat? why wasn't Eve freaked out by a talking snake? are all just distractions. Try reading Genesis as a history, and read the whole Bible as a story about how man rebelled against GOD, and what GOD did to fix our relationship with him. Don't sweat the meaningless things.
  • Humankind did not start with Adam and Eve. It's a wonderful story that tries to explain the mystery of who we are, but it is not literally true. That's my position, anyway. I've been wrong before.
  • You all well get the chance to ask the almighty God that very question sooner then you think
  • Well, whether the story of Adam and Eve is literal or not has no importance to me, nor anything to do with my belief. It is a fact however, that scientist agree that all humans came from a common stock.
  • Buddy, if u get married how do u explain the varience in your childrens DNA
  • DNA changes as it mutates over a period of time. They have been able to trace Adam and Eve back to central africa from what I understand....
  • It has long been rumored that Eve was a Hoochie and fooled around on Adam.
  • My view of all of this is based on the fact that the Book of Genesis was written by Moses, as dictated to him by God. God had to put things in a way that Moses would understand, as well as the rest of the Jews. So God chose to leave out a lot of the minute details of how the earth was created, and how we were created as well.
  • It just shows that the bible is pure fiction. At best folklore.
  • Mutations is the origin of genetic variation. As populations grow, people will migrate to different environments. Certain mutations will be favored because they increase survivability. Later on, gene flow can occur when breeding occurs between different populations introducing new genes into the local gene pools.
  • No, you can't, which means no it didn't (start with Adam & Eve). Its a story. "Mythology is what grownups beleive, folklore is what they tell children, religion is both." Cedric Whitman (US), 1969
  • I think that in the beginning days of mankind, ALL females were called 'Eve', and ALL males were called 'Adam'. There were far more than two people, they just did not have unique 'names', as we do today.
  • It's my understanding that genetic studies indicate that the entire human race today is descended from a single family living in East Africa about 60,000 years ago. At least that's what the documentary said on the National Geographic Channel.
