There are parts of Earth that are sunny or dark for months at a time. The animals in these areas still sleep. We don't sleep because it's dark. We sleep because our bodies and minds need the rest. I suspect their bodies would be similar. Or if they were different, it could not be wholly contributed to the sun.

Possibly. Our only view of evolution is of the one we have here on Earth afterall. An aliens brain may function in a particular way as to partially shut down and rest (while not actually be asleep in our traditional sense) while the being retains motoric functionality albeit at maybe a reduced capacity. I think the answers you have attracted so far, are a little short sighted. Good question.

Such aliens would be so different that it is difficult to determine whether "sleeping" would be a relevant concept. One side to that planet would be a burnt desert, the other an icy waste. It is unlikely that there would be liquid water, even in the intermediate zone, because it would all have been trapped on the icy size. Do bacteria sleep? Because the inhabitants of such a planet would be no more like us than bacteria.

Very likely, life would simply not exist directly on the sunny side with most of the life crowding around at the edge of light. Constant sunlight is extremely harsh. It would be hard for plants to survive under those conditions and even harder for animals. The planet needs to move in order for changes in climate to occur and I think that these changes are vital to life. There would be no rain, so no rivers, so no ground water except at sea level. It would all be extremely dry.

There would be no life for a variety of reasons due to the planet not rotating, without rotation there would be no weather system, it would be stagnet, most of the water would end up on the dark side frozen, I could go on and on.
