  • You're not going to touch ANY kind of gaming PC for $1000. Plus, even a high-end gaming PC will be obsolete (as a gaming PC) in a year or two...you'll need to continually pump gobs of money into it to keep it up-to-date...not a good prospect for someone for whom money is tight. OTOH, for your $1000, you can set yourself up with a loaded console (Xbox 360, PS3, or WII), online gaming account (Xbox Live, etc.), and a slew of games.
  • $1000 is plent for a decent gaming PC if you know your stuff. Try here for example: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4116763&CatId=114 You'll also have the advantage of a system that's more versatile and upgradeable than any console as well as having more hard disk space and a better processor (which can also be upgraded very easily when the need arises). You might want to add another 4Gb of Ram but even that won't set you back more than about $40 and you have a far greater range of games to play than you would with a console.
  • Goodness! I build a top of the line gaming PC for $600!! $800 with mouse, keyboard and 21" monitor. The best way to go is get it built! If I were closer to you I would gladly build you a gaming PC for $600-$700. Anywh, my answer lies with building it yourself.
