Do you mean below zero year round or just in the winter? And is that zero C or zero F?

A lot of people who do...don't! The suicide statistics and the rates of alcohol abuse related to "cabin fever" are extremely high in such places.

You adjust. When you go outside you bundle up(it's easier to take layers off that you have on, than it is to put on layers you don't have). It's only below zero a few weeks a year total where I live. -52 was the record up North last week in my state I think. Last week at my house it was -25 a few mornings, warming up to the single digits above during the HEAT of the day. The wind is a biter for sure. I still go out walking in below zero weather(gloves, two face masks plus insulated bib coveralls, two sweatshirts, tee shirt and jacket.)My walks usually last an hour or so at a time(3 a day). Inside, I keep the heat down to 60(58 at night), wearing two layers down below and three layers on top. Cracked me up the other day when I heard a lady on the news saying she had to turn the heat inside back to 66 to conserve energy...she was in California, things are a touch different there I guess! :-)

Well in January that's quite common. You just get over it I guess. Thankfully MOST of the month I was off of school so I didn't have to go out in it often. However you just really bundle up when you do. Gloves hat/earmuffs, super warm jacket. Scarf. Personally, I wish there were warmer pants than jeans and sweatpants!

The show goes on in my state. We don't have the heat cranked up because of the money though. If its at 65 F during the day in the house its fine. But no we don't stay inside during the cold monthes too much; I have classes and a job to walk to. I usually just go with a hoodie underneath a jacket with my fuzzy hat to keep the cold away. Its not so bad if the wind isnt blowing. When that happens I usually have to put two layers of pants on, but what else can you do in the windy state of SD?
