  • I can only speak for myself here, but I try to avoid negative thinking, ESPECIALLY about myself. When I was younger, I was diagnosed with having a "personality disorder". It was explained to me that when things were ok, I'd be on "top of the world", but when things went wrong I'd treat life as if the world was coming to an end. Negative thinking was definitely hazardous to my mental health. I'm nowhere near as bad as I used to be; "self-help" over the years taught me a lot. It's still best for me to avoid thinking negatively about myself to avoid depression. It's a whole lot easier avoiding depression than trying to climb out of a depressive state. I still complain about things sometimes, but I treat THAT as "entertainment". It's good to keep things in their proper perspective.
