Why do you have to "put your two cents in".. . but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going too?

At current exchange rates, one English penny is about the same as two US cents, so there is no extra money involved. It is simply a currency conversation to ensure that people from different parts of the world are getting paid at roughly the same rate for their thoughts and opinions and nobody is being priced out of international debates :)

Decimalization of the currency and devaluation of the coinage of the realm. Or is that inflation? Or is is CPI? Well, anyway it is something that causes the prices to go but they never seem to come down again...funny that. Except for bananas....have you noticed how cheap they are currently?

When you add two cents your paying one to get in the conversation and the other to say your thought. When you get a penny for your thoughts you get your penny back for future conversations.
