I'm from the South and I know plenty of people who don't say it. As much as Hollywood loves to capitalize on it, the South isn't the dungheap of ignorance and poor speech that it's made out to be.
Personally, I've never really understood why ya'll is such a picked over word. It's much easier to say ya'll than it is to say 'you all'.
Nobody says it in the UK! Except when we're doing fake American accents (and we always seem to do Southern accents when we're doing negative stereotypes - sorry).
Nope.
Did Gram Parsons make up the phrase 'hickory wind' or was it an old-south phrase?

You're reading If you're not from the South (US), do you ever say "y'all"? If you are from the South, do you know anybody who DOESN'T say it?
Comments
I picked it right up when I was in Houston for work about 12 years ago; it's more useful than "you guys", and "y'all's" sounds better than "you guyses".
