if you book the excursion through the ship and there is an issue with the excursion, like it's late, problems etc, the ship knows you are on their excursion and will assist.
if you are a larger party, however, you may find you will get a better rate direct with a taxi driver or onshore tour agent.
There are some ports that I would never book anything but a ships excursion, based on location and time in port.
Hi....from my experience only, it was better to book from the ship. I'll make this short and sweet. I booked through a travel agent and received a so-called group rate of $500 per person. $350 for the room (sale price) and $150 in port fees. When I looked online, it said the rooms were $425 and $75 in port fees. I asked the cruise people what was going on and they said the travel agent will do anything to sell a room, like telling me the room price was on sale. Then she will increase the port fees to get the price back up to where it needs to be. Understand? No matter where I booked, the cost was still $500. The travel agent was deceptive to say the least.
I am going on a cuise in 46 days. This is my first cruise and my first airplane ride to get to port. Any suggestions?

Would you rather go on a 7 day cruise with 5 ports or a 10 day cruise with 2 ports assuming the cost was the same.
