  • Mostly I say yes; however, I try to do a cost/risk/benefit analysis before-hand (even if it is just a quick mental exercise).
  • I always said no. That is why I regret more the things I didn't do. I'm still waiting for the opportunity I can't refuse. Thanks for asking.
  • yes. you could be missing out of something positive.
  • I think the scale of the oppertunities become smaller as you get older due to the ties/work etc... all play on oppertunities. Younger though I think the importance to me was much greater as they shaped the person who I am now vastly. No regrets as such but gutted I diddnt make the right move on a couple of occasions (possibly, who knows?). My plan now is always do what feels best (now) and do think of myself, you tend to get a gut reaction as to what is going to be an work and if an oppertunities worth taking.
  • I like AR's analysis. I suppose I do that too, although I usually don't realize it. I believe I say yes more often than no. I have turned down some wonderful job opportunities in order to spend more time with my children. I have friends that have criticized me to no end about this saying that I might not get another chance to impress that particular client, but I always tell them the same thing "I have never heard of anyone lying on their death-bed saying 'Gee, I wish I had spent more time in the office, away from my family." Also, I think that I say yes more often because I practice very hard to not make decisions based on fear, however I did turn down a business trip to Brazil after the WTC attack (9/11). One day I will get to Brazil. I just know it...
  • I like to be able to say yes,but more often than not I say no. Besause most of the oppurtunities I get are to do things that I have less than no interest in doing. If I have an oppurtunity to do something that I actualy *want* to do, I dive in and damn the consequences, but I haven't been getting many of that kind of oppurtunity.
  • I always used to say no, possibly a fear of people letting me down? I'm learning, slowly but surely, that I'm way too guarded, I need to loosen up a little. This past couple of months, I've said yes to virtually every opportunity I've been given (except joining the JW's, but if I have a change of heart, I'm sure they'll be back next month ;) And you know what? It's fantastic. Within a week of saying 'yes', I'd been to several parties and organised 3 trips abroad this year. I also have another voluntary job (still working with kids) and have an interview for another university course. I'm involved in more fundraising for charity, a new member of Amnesty International, an active member of Greenpeace and have joined a local political party. Seriously, I feel so much more fulfilled!
