As long as it is not intended to be hurtful, playful poking is okay. After all, there is humor in everything... But, always be careful... there are the over sensitive types who take offense easily!

No, I do not. Poking fun is not "humorous" except for those who feel the need to express their disagreement on something or a subtle way to express their dislike, fear or distrust of something. It is like saying you will close the door on insults regarding a topic.. but leave a window open for just "a little bit".

If it is offensive then NO! Humor is great, but there are limits. I have been offended more than a couple of times by some of the 'humor' on AB. As I have stated many times in other answers on AB, I do not down rate people for being offensive. I realize that some don't know any better but, of course, there are those who know what they are saying and say it because they want to be offensive. I just say a prayer for all of them and move on. I think it's OK to do it playfully- to find humour in religion or religious stories. Eddie Izzard does that little sketch about the three wise men popping to the all-night garage to get presents for Baby Jesus because nothing else was open on Christmas day, and the ducks on Noah's Ark ("we're not coming!")- I think that's kind of OK, because it uses the religion as a basis for humour, rather than the people who believe it, and its not done with malicious intent. Like so many things, it's all in the way you do it.

I think you should be able to poke fun at people's choices (religion, clothes etc). I do NOT think it is ok to poke fun at things people cannot help (race, gender etc.)

Absolutely Yes ! I poke fun at MY OWN religion........ It's just hard to deal with people who don't know where to draw the line..........
