some do, ALL dont keep that mentality were all just individuals

Well if that were true, I would have a "hate attitude" toward my friends and family members. And I don't. Some of the finest people that I know are Latter Day Saints and I love them to bits! So, I really think that you're over generalizing and, personally, I find that offensive. Maybe a better way to word your question might be: "Why do SOME Christians have such a hate attitude toward Mormons?" That's a statement that I would agree with BUT my experience is that it's a minority of Christians that this describes. A more accurate and precise question would be, "Why do Christians have such a hate attitude toward Mormonism?" That's because the Christians -- that is that are truly informed about Mormonism -- love the Mormon people but have significant and profound issues with the Mormon religion. And all to often I find that some Latter Day Saints find it impossible to separate themselves from the Mormon religion - they're just too deeply enmeshed in it. So when a Christian takes umbrage with Mormonism the enmeshed Mormon takes it personally. It can make reasoned dialog with some - but not ALL - Mormons nearly impossible. Thankfully there are some really great Mormons on this board who are NOT that way so it hasn't been so much of a problem - and I thank you guys (and gals) for that!

You said "hate attitude," pretty well said. I think that comes only from the most conservative or zealous christians, definitely a minority who should practice more peace and leave the judging to God or Allah or whoever It is. I've known a few and they're not bad people, just too judgmental. Their mission is to "save" people and they think mormons and non-christians are leading people in the wrong direction.
-
They aren't typically accepting of many other points of view aside from Mormons either. Although I've never considered Christians "hateful."
-
Why do people ask questions based on sweeping generalizations about other groups of people?
-
I would say, "wow" to that question, seeing as how growing up in a 'christian' community, Mormonism is considered christianity. But to answer your question in the context you're asking it, I would have to say that, since "Christ"-ianity is based on the concept of Jesus "Christ" being Lord and Savior, and Mormonism believes that Jesus is not in-fact God, Himself, their 'hate' stems from the fact that they would even consider themselves 'christian'. Once again, this is just an opinion based on my history, and by no means hate mormons. As a matter of fact I love mormons, lol! They're some of the nicest people.
-
They don't. Religious bigots aren't Christians.

I grew up Christian. Fund. Baptist. They didn't "hate" the people of other beliefs. They are just on a mission to recruit them. So they spent a lot of energy and time on how to fight other religeons. It's very sad that they do not spend more time teaching their followers how to love unconditionally rather than fight other religeons. It would be much more enlightening for everyone. Church should be a place for people to love and grow spiritually. Not a place to be trained to be a soldier for Christ. That is not spirituality. That creates hate.
-
because mormons steal christians from churches and convert them to mormonism and a life of slavery. there is no freedom in the mormon church. you get a membership number and are assigned to a spouse.
-
as far as i know they dont. i dated a Mormon and im a Christian. needless to say we broke it off, but i dont HATE them. i dont like their teachings and their founder but i dont hate them.
-
I am a christian and do not appreciate being told who I hate and I say I do not hate anybody. I may not like what they do, but I do not hate them and respect their right to be different than me. I may hate actions of some , but do not hate the person. So please do not judge me. thank you.

I am a Christian, and I do not hate Mormons...

To be honest human nature sometimes makes it that we ALL have an attitude toward each other. Negative energy happens to anyone no matter what reglion, color, sex..... Mean people suck
-
You are just trying to stir up controversy for your own entertainment. True Christians don't hate anyone. And, Mormons are Christians too. There are lots of different Christian Churches. Some are quite rigid and may actually hate someone or something. But that is not true Christian.
-
who follow Christ so he can not hate to anyone.

Just to let you know, Mormons (members of the LDS Church) are Christians. Christians in general are not against the LDS Church. Some people have been misinformed, have inherited prejudices, and have been offended and left the church, some of which results in insulting, criticizing, and persecuting the church. Jesus warned those when all men speak well of them (Luke 6:26). There has to be oppositions in all things (2 Nephi 2:11), so they will always be critics of the Church. You can go to mormon.org and ask questions to representatives of the Church there.

Christians in general don't hate Mormons or anyone. It just sometimes seems like they do on AB because there are a few trolls who hate Mormons or Mormonism (and some of them, by their own admission, hate all religion) and insist on adding their message of hate to most discussions in this topic.

Most do not have a hate attitude toward us. . When you encounter those few that do, and they ARE relatively few: Matt. 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; .

Snark Answer: Because they spew dogma as an "authoritative" answer question after question after question after question (ad nauseum) , they don't paragraph their long winded answers making them illegible, and they can't seem to find their way out of the Mormonism section of AnswerBag. (poke!)

Well judging by the sampling generated by these answers Christians don't have any such attitude towards Mormons. - The question you may have ment to ask is "Why are some Christians so vehemetly apposed to the LDS church?" - Well first we need to understand that most who are not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, don't believe its true. (Which may explain why they are not members ;) - Now if the LDS church were false, what would that mean? Well it would mean that Joseph Smith was a false prophet for starters. And being a false prophet is pretty much one of the most evil things you can do. Not only that but Joseph Smith knew it was one of the most evil things you can do: "Yea, I did remember all my sins and iniquities, for which I was tormented with the pains of hell; yea, I saw that I had rebelled against my God, and that I had not kept his holy commandments. Yea, and I had murdered many of his children, or rather led them away unto destruction; yea, and in fine so great had been my iniquities, that the very thought of coming into the presence of my God did rack my soul with inexpressible horror. Oh, thought I, that I could be banished and become extinct both soul and body, that I might not be brought to stand in the presence of my God, to be judged of my deeds." Alma 36:13-15 These were the words of Alma the Younger (but if the Church weren't true they are the words of Joseph Smith) Note how leading people away is compared with murder. Now Alma didn't know what he was doing was so horrible at the time he was doing it, but if Joseph Smith were a false prophet he knew full well that he was and he admitted knowledge of how terrible a thing that was. - Further every Prophet since Joseph Smith and most likely every Apostle would have known that the church wasn't true, and that they were misleading people. So they would have all been just as evil as Joseph Smith. - "Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit." Matthew 7:17-18 - If the leadership of the church is evil, than they will lead it for evil. Evil men simply do not go about doing good. - And so that's why the Mormon church is so often targeted. Other Christian denominations get their doctrine from a study of the Bible and they are either right or wrong. But the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints claims its doctrine from divine revelation and they are either true or evil. - Personally most Anti-Mormon literature (that wasn't written by a former LDS missionary or bishop) that I've come accross shows real Christian love and concern for the welfare of my soul. And while I feel it is misguided, I am touched and greatful for it. After all, isn't that what a true friend would do? - "who ought to have been my friends and to have treated me kindly, and if they supposed me to be deluded to have endeavored in a proper and affectionate manner to have reclaimed me" Joseph Smith History 1:28
-
I think its because we proclaim that our Church is the ONLY TRUE church upon the earth, that The Church is the only Church with the Authority of God. The Churches teachings aren't exactly what a lot of people want to hear. Mormons are misunderstood.
