This question would make more sense asked, "If you believe in an afterlife..." It makes more sense that those of us who do not believe in an afterlife would be much more likely to cherish and enjoy this one and only life we have than would those who believe that their "real life" begins after death. It's why we sometimes refer to those who have those beliefs and call for things that will never happen such as the rapture, as "death cultists". I'm glad I was born and I'm going to make every bit of this life count. Are you living to enjoy this life or are you happy in the belief that your death will serve you better?

It must be depressing to think there is nothing.

I neither believe or disbelieve in an "afterlife". I know full well there is no way to know for certain whether my belief is correct without actually going there. I DO know that THIS life exists, so it seems logical to live this life to the greatest extent possible. Our time here is so short, so I make a point to disallow negativity and remove myself from depressing, harmful situations. No point in letting others drag me down. All in all, I LOVE my life, I love this earth, and I feel honoured to have the chance to live here, whether it is all there is, if I'll be back again in another body, or if I'll move on to another life in another place.
