Stop drawing attention to it?

Make people leave a name same as comments. If we leave a comment saying we do not like an answer your name is visable . I think the same should go for downrating and moderating
-
1) Make it so that a negative rating MUST include a comment. 2) Remove all points and levels to make everyone equal.
-
I had another idea I would like to "put to paper". When a internet troll (http://tinyurl.com/yyab85) is identified their accounts should be removed... and all their ratings (positive and negative) should be erased.
-
Take away the levels, and there would be no reason to troll. I think they do everything they can to moderate the site,...it is however really annoying when people come one here to offend others. I think they should make a little rule or something,...where if youre flagged offensive a certain amount of times, then you cant post questions or answers until the moderators find out whats up.
-
you cant they just follow you around and downrate you. the only thing you can do is ignore them and hope they will go away. its annoying but when they downrate you it doesnt effect your overall score just the score for the question or answer they downrated.

There are a few ideas being shared here: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/124136 [This was moved from a duplicate question.]
-
Ha, i wish. It woould be nice. Just ignore them i guess.

1. Prevent people from leaving more than one negative feedback on questions or on answers in any five-minute period. Being forced to wait five minutes will slow down the speed-trollers to the point that they'll probably go away. Making the period 30 minutes works even better. 2. Add to the software so that when you downrate someone, a window appears that says: "Downrating is to be used ONLY for questions where the answer given is offensive, nonsense, incorrect, or doesn't answer the question asked. If it is an opinion question, and the answer gives an opinion relevant to the question, DO NOT downrate the answer simply because you disagree with the opinion. DO NOT downrate someone who presents facts you dislike, simply because you dislike the facts. The "helpful/not helpful" is about whether the answer addresses the question, not whether you personally like or agree with the response. Do you still want to downrate this question? Yes/No" Maybe something like that would help.

Let's embrace them both and stop worrying about AB. Remember life before AB? Not that bad, was it? Realistically, these are one of life's most irrelevant concerns. Take a deep breath and go on. The only real effect trolls have is to move your questions up or down the page. Once given points, they never leave your bag's total.
-
This, is exactly the trolling behavior we have been fighting against, along with the negative trolling, this nuisance has gone way to far. Never in all my time on AB have I been forced to bear witness to such behavior. If you promote this type of behavior and like to be made fools of would you please leave and go to another website, their are some of us who deserve better than this... there are some of us that don't enjoy being played like a game or having our collective intelligence insulted. To some you may find it fun and games, fine, fun and games are fine, but don't misconstrue or make the mistake, "harrassment" is not a game and it is not fun. There is only one person who wins this game,... and it's not you. When you urge on this type of behavior, you only hurt other AB members, and you chase away new users, and recently, many of our AB veterans have been leaving as well. Today, I had the opportunity to welcome a doctor of oncology to our forum, he is a gentleman and a scholar, and he should be granted the automatic respect by all of us that he takes his very valuable time to come on AB to pass on his professional wisdom, knowledge and education. This can be beneficial to us all,... but what are he and others gonna think and say of "us all", If we promote this type of behavior? Certainly he to may leave, and urge his colleages NOT to become a member of AB as well. Because of the immature behavior and childish bickering of its members. If this is the behavior that we as a collective approve of, then perhaps I should leave also. I cannot stress to you all enough, the seriousness of the issue at hand. People come to us for answers to their most serious problems, and those things that are most important to them... what will they think of us if the collective approves of this type of behavior? Or worse, what do we think of eachother? What have we become a part of? It is my hope that you have aquired in your brief time here, the native intelligence required to understand what I am talking about, and what effect it has on us all. When you log on to AB, your not just a "standard member" your part of a collective of people, not a collective of Chubs to be made fools of. I don't know what ABJoel would say about my input, but I am sure he would probably agree that it's certainly not beneficial or desirable content becoming of AB, and niether are those who promote such behavior. I don't know about you, but I would like to see more doctors and professionals come on here and share their wisdom and knowledge with us, and enhance our collective, it's difficult to do that if you promote and urge trolls to come on here and harrass the collective, and your not helping Answerbag.com become a trusted resource on the internet. I suggest we all should be more selective on who we respond to, if they do not have AB's best interest in mind, they do not have our best interest in mind, and should be passed over, ignored, and ultimately forgotten. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sunblynd. http://www.answerbag.com/blog_com/124?page=4&

Nevets that is abit rough, they are doing the best they can. Just as trolls are just people, moderators are human too. Not everything in life can be exactly perfect.
-
Trolling is never nice but, if we ignore them and move on to something more relevant I think with time it will stop. Something that should be considered is letting people be accountable for their actions, If you are going to troll then you must leave your name......it's the adult thing to do.
-
AB used to require a name be left with a negative rating. The results were hostility and revenge. Few people enjoyed this environment, and AB removed the "name" requirement at our requests. Neg points are not a big deal. The reasons someone negs me, will be of little interest, and typically just reveal their point of view (which I surmise from the neg rating!). Many people have "outgrown" the need to acquire points and level status and still participate. This seems healthy. The new ability to award or punish an answer within a range of points give some much needed flexibility. Indeed, you do see answers which merit no more than a few points, but not your allotment of 6. On the other hand, you can leave a -1, to make a point (no pun) but do no real harm either......RF
