I reckon! and then when you post your opinion they rate it down! and dont even leave a comment on the posted opinion of that one

Sometimes questions are worded in an offensive way. What’s interesting to me is that whenever anyone posts a Bush-Bashing question it is rated up. Eg: ”Why does Bush think he can do whatever he wants and when is Congress going to stop this man?” In response I wrote: "I think this question would classify as trolling due to the way it has been worded." – Which naturally earned me a -4! This is what I was referring to: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/96655/160544 Stableboy: Well there isn't total agreement on the definition of trolling, here's my version of it: [...] Posting "loaded questions" on sensitive topics, like religion and politics. Examples are "why is G. Bush such an idiot?". Questions which scream out your rigid opinion on a controversial topic. [...] I notice that people tend to rate down perfectly valid questions in the Adult section, perhaps because they dislike the ideas presented to them. ----- It’s clear that AnswerBag self-moderation has a long way to go.

Questions can be bad. If they're about suicide or self-harm, they seem to get rated down. If they're about dating on AB, they're rated down. Spam is rated down. If a question goes against what someone believes, they might rate it down. A legitimate question, if poorly worded or completely unreadable, is rated down. Bad spelling is rated down. Poor (really, really poor) grammar is rated down. Adding unnecessary commentary to a question is rated down.

This discourages people from asking questions like "What's up???!!!!" "R yu 13 yrs old?" "Are there any hot chix here?...can we meet?"

They are down rated because thier question does fit into the status quo.I myself question the validity of Answerbag, for most people have good questions, and if questions come up such as belief in aleins or anything off beat to the so called conventional way of thinking, they react negatively. I find myself, the best questions asked are the ones rated the worst.I have had issues with narrow minded people all my life, and if Answerbag is just a soundingboard for opinions only, I pay no head to the rating system, for it has proven to be useless. My ego is not bruised by people that I have little respect for anyways, don't take it personally.

correction; *you* wouldn't ask unless you wanted to know. unfortunatley there are some on here that just want to see if they can get a laugh or pollute the boards. there are however serious questions on here that are downrated and I can never understand why. Is it because the people who rate them think everyone should know the answer already? For example, there was some sort of question about TV and what the first show or something like that was. It was downrated but I couldn't figure out why...
