Yes.
-
Not in my country. It is my Constitutional Right.
-
Nope. And it won't happen in America any time soon - we are far too attached to our guns.
-
No, the avilability of drugs is banned, yet millions of people use them. so all this would do is slightly reduce the number of people who use guns for murder, robbery, etc. and almost eliminate the use of guns for self defence.
-
Hell no! Let's start with the old adage, "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns". We banned the taking of another person's life yet we still have murderers. What would a ban accomplish? Look what happened when we banned alcohol! Granted, that involve amending the US Constitution, which we'd also have to do in order to ban firearms, and that is a whole other kettle of fish. Then again, the last six years have effectively shredded a few other amendments, so I suppose that the 2nd amendment is equally vulnerable.
-
It would be nice, but then criminals will still find a way to get them unfortunately.
-
Of course. In nearly all civilised countries it is already banned, and their murder rates are a tiny fraction of those in the U.S. As they say, go figure...
-
no im not really anti government but if only the military and law enforcement have arms, us civilians would be "putty".
-
I don't think so, but there should be more controls in place as to who actually has one.
-
No! At least in the US, it is our right to bear arms. I heard someone say once that the first thing Hitler did was have his militia go around the townships and confiscate everyone's guns. So later the poeple could not fight back.
-
I'll answer that as soon as I'm done with the questions on religion, morality, evolution, family values, politics, abortion, death penalty, driving while on a cell phone, cloning, and mercy killing. Owning a firearm is like being a parent. It just isn't right for everyone.
-
no. it's my right. as the saying goes, you can take it from my cold dead fingers.
-
i know an 18 year old male who is .. well.. not all here mentally. and he carries a gun, and has smashed it against someone's head before. if the availability was banned, i wouldnt be scared of when i see him in the street (im a very paranoid person) but HE shouldnt have to mess up things for all the SANE people that have the right to bear arms. i say no banning, i wish they could be more careful of who they sell it too but there are always underground handing-over-of-gun-in-exchange-for-money deals going on.
-
Not on my watch!! (Disagree, and I'll shoot you, punk!)
-
No, We as humans, constitutionally have the right to bear arms, and as much as I hate guns,...I would quickly use one if my life or the life of a loved one were threatened.
-
I live in the UK and the thought of firearms being available to the general public fills me with horror. I am glad we have the laws we do, that prohibit the use of firearms unless you have a special licence and a special reason for owning one.
-
I'm pretty sure that the 'right to bear arms', is to protect us from our goverment, rather than each other.
-
Yes. There are two many deaths because people can't control themselves.
-
When there is no one left who preys on the weak and unarmed. It should be hard to get a gun and proof of it's need, what especially comes to mind is women who live alone and owners of small businesses, especially those that stay open at night.
-
That would be brilliant, ban firearms for law abiding citizens, but criminals will still keep them. (After all criminals, don't care about laws anyway) [/sarcasm]
-
No just assault rifles and stuff like that. I think it should be harder to get a gun than it is now.
-
I don't think so, that would be illegal and I am against crime.
-
Why only Us ? from other parts of world also.
-
I would be for banning automatic / assult rifles. It blows my mind people can buy 50 caliber rifles!
-
No, there's this whole Constitutional amendment thing saying we can own arms. Also, banning guns from normal citizens will just give more power to criminals.
-
I expect to be at the bottom of the list for my views have been looked upon negatively by the many gun lovers This question has been asked quite often. And all firearms should be banned and the existing ones seized.Firearms in the wrong hands are deadly. The old standby comment is that only the criminals would have them.I meant to say all firearms from all citizens ,including the criminals.
-
Banning firearms would remove them from the good people and keep them in the hands of evil people. Bad move.
-
The only other amendment to the constitution that ever was canceled was prohibition. Since we have the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives I think that this will never happen. People love their guns and a lot of them are very responsible with them. Many people go to a range and blow off steam shooting inanimate targets which is cathartic and relieves their stress.
-
I'm against it.
-
I would love for firearms to be banned. That would greatly reduce the amount of deaths in the US. I don't think it would happen, but I would love for it to happen.
-
Absolutely not. As a child, I lived for several years in a country where one must obtain a permit to own a firearm. The permits cost $50 per year for a shotgun, $100 per year for a rifle, and $250 per year for a handgun. You had to prove that you needed the weapon for work purposes to get the handgun permit. Each round you owned had to be accounted for. Unauthorized possession of a firearm or ammunition carried a mandatory jail sentence. The only armed people (besides the police) I saw in that country dealt in drugs. On several occasions, I had to leave my home and spend the night at a friend's house while these people conducted their business outside where I lived. The people we were with were at the mercy of those who did not care about the laws. This should never happen in America.
-
No, but controlling them a little better would be wise.
-
YES! about 1/4 of people shot and killed by a firearm was done so by their own firearm. They are NOT safe expecelly around small children. They don't know that gun are not toys. And in the hands of the wrong person firearms can be dangerous.
-
hell no! That's unconstitutional!
-
NO
-
I think we should go with the "original intent" of the Constitution and allow citizens to own firearms. However, the only firearms they would be allowed to own would be modern reproductions of whatever was available in 1789. Furthermore, firearm owners would, as clearly stated in the 2nd amendment, have to be part of a 'well regulated militia' (well-regulated in this context means that its members meet and train frequently). I think a nation of muzzle-loaded musket owners who had to practice their loading/shooting every two weeks would do *far* less damage to each other than our current society does.
-
No, absolutely not. Several reasons: 1.) It's constitutionally guaranteed, get rid of one amendment, the rest could follow. 2.) Only criminals would have firearms. 3.) There would likely be an increase in crime. 4.) Enforcement would be next to impossible and could possible result in many deaths of those who won't give up their weapons as well as those enforcing the law.

FACT: violence did not begin with the gun. Humans have harmed each other before time was recorded. We have beat each other with sticks and rocks, burned each other with fire, hung people with ropes, pierced people with arrows, drowned people in water, fed people to lions, cut people with swords, stabbed people with knives, poisend others with toxins, and yes shot people with guns. Violence is the dark side of being human. It hasn't gone away. misuse of cars cause almost as many deaths as murder, but some how I still hear people say that this is some how more acceptable. Did you know Jeffry Dahmer never shot any of his victims. Guns helped give this country our independence. If guns were not available at the time, it would have been done with the sword. how is that better. Was the American revolution bad because guns played a part? I would love to here someones idea as to how we "disarm" America and not meet any resistance. Guns are here(another fact I might add) so how do we uninvent them?
-
No. The right to bear arms is clearly stated in the bill of rights. What will be next to go, free speech, freedom of religion??!?! People should be required to take gun saftey classes or something, maybe. But most of the gun enthusists I know are some saftey freaks and would not benifit from a hour class on it - heck they could probably teach it!
-
i am not a big fan of firearms but if people want them so badly we should just ban bullets. bullets are the real evil here, they are what kill people, bullets should be eradicated. then everyone would be happy.
-
When has a ban on anything ever worked? All you do is dirve something underground and open it to organized crime. Remember alcohol prohibition? The Volstead Act? That was a total disaster.. Can you imagine a similiar law in the USA? And question for you.. What are some nations with the toughest gunlaws? Answer: Lebanon Pakistan Iraq Darfur Nicaragua Brazil The Philippines and just about most any place else in the world where there's violence that has or is being done usually with firearms. But try enforcing those laws
-
it could be dangerous both ways. because if you have them it results in shootings and killings but not u'll have revolts, smuggeling and angry hillbillys
