Can you have an ex fiance'? Isn't that just an ex boyfriend or girlfriend if you don't get married? Isn't a fiance someone you are going to get married to so if you don't does that title still hold? Just wondering.

I guess it's technically correct, as in referring to having a "ex-sore throat." But it terms of practical lingustics I see no place for it.

There is totally an ex fiance. It's almost like an ex boyfriend or girlfriend amplified, in a totally different place with a completely escalated plan. You can date and break up with anyone. An ex fiance is a really big deal.

To become or to have an ex fiance you must first be engaged but not married. I reffer to the girl I asked to marry me but then we broke up as my exfiance.
