  • There is a possibility that you have conditioned her to wake by running in every time she cries. She has you trained. Let her room be completely dark. Make sure she is warm, dry and fed when you give her her midnight bottle, then close the door and go to your room. Leave a pacifier close to her. If she cries, give her an opportunity to soothe herself. It may take 10 minutes or more. Make sure the room stays dark. It triggers the in-womb sleeping impulse.
  • How? My 6 week old is still sleeping in a bassinette by our bed. She goes to bed around 11pm, is up for a bottle at around 3am and refuses to go back to sleep til around 7am. She is not over sleeping during the day but for some rease she wants to start her day at 3am. My husband works away from the home durning the week so it is just me here. I work as a babysitter out of the home and have to get up at 6am. I am about to loose my mind. I am exhausted but I don't know if I can or should move her to her crib. I try to put her in it for naps during the day but she starts screaming. I do not rock her to sleep. She falls asleep on her own at night and in her swing during the day. I did cave in a couple of nights and sleep on the couch while she fell asleep in her swing. I am so scared to start any bad habits that will haunt me later on. Any suggestions?
  • well she is only nearly 2 months so she is still finding her sleep pattern. i know it sounds terrible but what i had to do to stop my girl who is now 15 months not 9 anymore from waking up in the night is just going in putting her dummy back make sure she has everything (dummy, favourite toy and covered up) and get out (with out talking or cuddles) if she gets up again to just do the same, even if she woke the whole house hold up. she sleeps right through the night. i think what you are doing with the swing is training her to only sleep with it and that you may be letting her sleep to much during the day. could she allready have night colic? if you don't know what colic is you better google it up (gripe water at 8 weeks is good for that just after every feed- helps babies burp after a meal if they can't and just before bed time to settle their tummy). but like said she is only 8 weeks. there are many factors for a baby this early not to be sleeping yet. my little girl at that age got me up every 2 to 3 hours for a feed and then stayed up at 5am. i just had to put up with it. until she grew out of it.
