As a "free spirit", I distrust authority figures, generally. Specifically I can trust some like teachers or professors to instruct in an ethical manner. Other authority figures need to prove themselves to me. I've had questionable experiences with police officers even though I'm a law abiding citizen with no arrest record...not even for jaywalking or spitting on the sidewalk. Priests and preachers aren't really upfront IMHO, so they haven't earned my trust as a group. There are a couple of individual cases who are pretty much OK because they're family members...still they seem to be holding something back. Teevee preachers strike me as blatantly criminal. Politicians? Don't get me started on them...conservative or liberal...it's all about them and retention of power.... If somebody has positioned themselves in the role of "authority figure", IMHO is that person has control issues and a good dose of egoism to work through. I like a more democratic approach to life's issues and less "my way or the highway" stuff.
