Anytime we mention weaknesses we are sort of putting ourselves right out there. Try and think of generic answers, such as "working too hard" or "getting deeply involved with work" or something like "caring for people." Just keep it generic and basic and only give on or two very short answers.

Tell them you are a perfectionist. At least that was I was taught to say... and it must have worked because I landed every job I interviewed for! BTW, make sure they know that the perfectionism doesn't stop you from gettingyour work done, you just like to do it to a level that will satisfy everyone! Good luck!

For my Med. School interviews, when asked the same thing, you can't reply with nothing because everyone has faults and you are a better person for being able to admit them. So, what I did was turn a negative into a positive. I said something like: "If I had to state a negative quality I have, I would have to say my attention to detail. I don't like leaving loose ends, and so I always have to take extra time to ensure that a task is completed correctly, and completely. This does sometimes mean that I have to spend a bit more time on a problem than others might, but I find that as long as I am aware of my other commitments and manage my time efficiently, this does not affect my performance adversely, and allows me to be as thorough as necessary." Obviously it depends on the actual job but if you manage to do something similar they'll respect you for admitting a problem and even more for turning it into an advantage.

When asked "What are your weaknesses?," it’s important not to sound canned and say that you “work too hard.” Rather, share one example of a weakness and how you’ve learned from it and are working on overcoming the challenge. It's okay to have a real weakness, as long as you have a strategy for how to overcome that weakness. http://www.fpcnational.com/typical-interview-questions.html

I tell them that when I have a problem with someone or something at work, I tend to work around it rather than saying anything. It's not a weakness that will turn a boss off of anyone, but it is a weakness nonetheless. (And for me, it's the truth.)
