  • can you resurface it? what kind of driveway is it?
  • I saw this video on aol saying to use TSP (i think thats what its called, its a blue substance you can get at hardware stores) and baking soda. Just mix it together and pour it over the spots. Let it sit and use a broom to scrub before you wash it away.
  • no matter what you use you gotta scrub the shit out of it with a brush. id say a degreaser but i dont know how that would work on rust. the dirt and oil would be gone though. you cant just pour stuff on and expect it to mysteriously dissapper
  • Bleach is always a good start. If the rust is from below(ie,from forming the original drive and the nails are rusting through,or,the wire mesh used to tie the new pour together is deteriorating somehow,,not common) Most grease, tar, oils, etc.would wash off with that high pressure unit you are using, bleach will whiten the darker spots. Otherwise, myratic(sp) acid,,it needs to be pure,I use it to etch concrete, prior to new concrete being poured(with bonding agent and rebar..etc) Application should be with gloves, rubber boots and have baking soda (lots of it) with you,,soda neutralizes the acid,,it'll sizzle as the 2 combine. Have a breeze blowing and stay away from the fumes as much as possible,,they will knock you out if you get into a tight area, have others with you while doing this,to pull you out in case something happens. Once the acid has etched the crete,(Using a stiff brush 'acid resistant' to scrub stubborn spots, apply the soda generously to the entire area,,allow the soda to do it's job,,then wash off with low pressure, making sure you don't get it on yourself(or any pets...etc.) Then try the pressure washer again..you will notice a change of color.
