...and where does that money come from...why bother tending to my fields to make corn to sell at a store, soceity would be in ruin if people all stopped doing there jobs.

If no one worked, no one would pay taxes. Where is the money the government would pay us going to come from? Why should the government pay us all not to work? If no one works, who will run the government that will pay us all?

Well, think about it. If no one worked, where would the bloody money come from? And they only reason the government give you money is if you are unable to get a job for various reasons, not because you can't be arsed to work for a living like everyone else

Such an economic model cannot be sustained. People must work and pay in taxes. This is the government's revenue. Without it, the government doesn't have much revenue at all, let alone enough revenue for social services (unemployment, welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, transportation and roads, Social Security, etc). I work because I take pride in being self-sufficient and want a better quality of life than any government program can or will provide. If no one works, there is no production of goods or services. Do not try to call the doctor if you are sick, because there will not be one.

People should take pride in their ability to work and be able to support themselves and their family. Some people truly enjoy what they do. And finally, government assistance is not that much and you can't do and have everything you want on only a few hundred dollars a month. I know because I have watched a friend go through all that and still complained she never had enough for this or that.

Society cannot be sustained and the free market economy would collapse unless people work. With no money being earned there would be no taxes paid, so the government would be unable to invest the tax money to help the economy grow. Also with no money to spend, shops would close, prices would soar, our currency would become worthless, other countries would refuse to trade with us. With no workforce, companies would take their factories elsewhere to a place where people will work hard. All in all, social deprivation on a collosal scale. That is not an opinion, rather a matter of fact, using a (very) basic understanding of economics. Personally, I work because i get bored easily and cannot sit at home for any longer than a week without going insane. I can also provide myself with a nicer flat with larger electronic devices, in a nicer area, with less crime, eat nicer food and bag myself a more intelligent girlfriend by having a job. It also does my self esteem the world of good. I get the feeling you are asking why it is that YOU should work, when the government, that is, taxpayers like myself, are prepared to sustain you. I would suggest that if you are happy with what the government will provide for you, dingy housing, crap food, and there's no way any intelligent girl will touch an unemployed bum, then fine, if it makes you happy do it, and there is nothing wrong with it. I sometimes wonder who the stupid one is, the bums for being unemployed or the taxpayers for working like dogs. As a footnote, (this is the rant coming, so pay attention) I believe that the government spends far too much on welfare and should all but scrap the welfare state. Welfare should be a safety net for the unlucky, not a good option for the stupid and the lazy.

One thing that no one has pointed out yet is that this question illustrates the fundamental flaw with both socialism and communism. In both systems, people who work hard see the fruits of their labor taken away and given to those that don't work. So, the workers don't see the point in working as hard. Therefore productivity drops and the society has trouble providing jobs and resources for its people.

It doesnt pay off to work,for me not to work id cut even as if i did work.But at the end of the day how do you want to feel,that youv bought the stuff u have in your home and worked for it or was given it by the state? Id rather work and it gives me a life and makes me feel better in myself my self esteme and pride
