Perhaps the tattoos artists feel that its not something they personally want to do. I personally like tattoos as I have a couple myself but wouldnt dream of having one on my face or hands. However I guess it could just be the society we live in where they do not want to see someones face covered in "art" and so to go along with the majority they alienate the minority.

The tattoo shop where I get mine done will put ink anywhere on anyone as long as you are at least 18 years old.

I'm no expert but im sure that ain't true. My dad got one on his hand i'm not sure about the face. Hope this helped a bit!

My tattoo artist wont tattoo on spots that are visible with a suitcoat on unless you already have one. She said that she doesn't want to be resposible for someone not getting their dream job, and most people discriminate against tattoos.

my boyfriend is a tattooist, the reason they dont tattoo hands is because the tattoo often doesnt heal very well, because the hands are constantly being used and moved, therefore disturbing the healing process of the tattoo. as for face, its just a matter of personal preference for the tattooist. some just dont like tattooing faces

My tat shop will but only if you have tats already and can handle it as those areas are really painfull apparantly

a face tattoo is a life changing alteration, unfortunatly most will judge you by that and not the person you are.as for hands(feet as well), the dermal cells rejuvenate 5 times faster than any other part of the body. The back your hands, and top of your feet will generaly stay, fingers, palms and soles will 99% of the time fade without multiple applications and sometimes not even then.

My son did tattooing and he would never do hands or faces as he said it was mainly because they would find it hard to get employment, and didnt thing the younger customer 18 would realize it would harm there job prospects,he did have a few kick off when he refused.

My tattoo shop will not tattoo anyone's face or hands unless they are very heavily tattooed and know the possible consequences of having ink in these spots. 99% of the time we will not tattoo the face or hands of young people [though we don't tattoo under 18]. Tattoos are still -unfortunately- looked negatively upon by many people, and we don't want to be responsible for taking away opportunities and possibly decreasing someone's quality of life. Hand tattoos have a 50/50 chance of staying, but usually -especially around the fingers, palms, and sides of the hands- the ink will fall out, and need to be put in a few times. Even then there is still no guarantee.

In my state I've been told by several professional inkers that it is illegal. I think in the next state down...NH, it's legal. So it's a travelling they must go if they want it done.

Often gang tats can be found on the hands or knuckles. Perhaps that is one reason.
