World War II. I believe one of the main reasons why the UN was formed was to prevent the outbreak of another big war just like World War II.

WWI was the league of nations however they had not the men required to keep the peace so it was disbanded however after the second world war the United Nations was born from Franklin D. Roosevelt in order to prevent another catastrophy such as the Holocaust, the world war, the genocide in China (I believe 30 million people died in that genocide,) Russia (15 million dead,) Holocaust in Europe 6 million people Holocaust: 6 million------------ Russian genocide: 15 million <-l----------- Chinese cultural revolution: 30 million <-l THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE UNITED NATIONS Total: 51 million people dead along with the people who died from the mysterious flew empidemic but that has nothing to do with human rights violations but it is a great amount of people dead. Some estimates suggest 40-50 million people died while others suggest 50-100 million people dead. If it was of 100 million people then the total dead as of the results is 151 million people
