What was your most memorable experience at the beach, or on a pier?

I was at the beach with my girlfriend and we walked out to the end of a pier holding hands. We stood at the end for a minute, I kissed here, then suddenly a 10 foot wave knocks us both off the pier :D

Making allowances for how 'gay' this might sound, my best friend since the 5th grade & I just embarked on our separate ways in life in '82, walkin' down the beach (Virginia Beach) sharin' a Sony Walkman (when they 1st came out and were amazing!), listening to Alan Parsons' "Old and Wise". ;-)

I guess the one that was the most dramatic was coming across a dead body in Florida that washed up on the beach. I was around 12 years old when we vacationed there for two weeks. I was walking down the beach with my uncle.

My most memorable experience would probably be the year before my wife and I got married. Her family took me and her sisters boyfriend on vacation with them to Galveston beach. I have always had a dark complexion, and back then there wasn't all the knowledge of sunblocks, etc., so I never used any. Besides, I just always turned very dark and stayed that way most of every summer. Well, long story short ... I absolutely "burned" to a crisp! I had blisters all over my shoulders and back, and it was just about the most miserable couple of weeks of my life. I still have some scars from that summer. But, my future wife took excellent care of me, and almost single-handedly nursed me back to normal. It was VERY painful and VERY uncomfortable, tho', and I have never made that mistake again!
