    desire, attachment and belief in permanence are the 3 buddha taught.
    yes, that is true.
    over the last 3 decades every time I suffer I can contemplate and see that it can be lead back to one of the 3. amazing


    you wish to go to the grocery store....(desire), and break a leg on the way and suffer.
    you wish to be with your friends ( desire) and a snowstorms stops all from coming. we suffer a little.
    we like our dog, or friends, or house, or car, and it breaks ir friends or pets die. attachment to them causes suffering.
    we believe things will last forever. when joy disappears, or something gets lost we suffer.... so we believed somehow it will last forever.
    no matter how many times I look at suffering I see that 1 of the 3 is the culprid.
    the only way we can change it is by seeing it....observing the suffering character of the 3....each time.
    and gently and in time we can with ease let go of such desires, attachments and beliefs in permanence.
    we can't force the mind to let go. but through see the suffering character of such moments....we in time can heal and be in equanimity
    forever.

    No. its greed. greed has ruined marriages, ruined countries, conflicts with drug dealers, commiting crimes to have what others have, stealing money out of the church donation plate and many more examples.

    Greed comes first, then the word "me or I" comes second.

    Desire is the root of all human motivation. Even if that is a desire for someone else to have something before thinking of yourself. Desire is the root of everything good and evil.

    I can see how this could be true, but it really depends on what one considers "evil". It can be applicable to real life by making you rethink what you desire and if its' wrong/evil to desire.

    Desire is the root of all evil, because by desiring something you want it than desire gets to your head and you do evil things such as stated above like ruining marriages, ruining countries etc. DESIRE IS THE DISEASE WHEREAS GREED IS A SYMPTOM!
