Do you wash the dishes before you put them in the dishwasher?

My girlfriend does this all the time and I can't figure out what the heck a dishwasher is for if it doesn't wash the dishes! I like to wash my dishes by hand since I was raised up in a boarding house and as a little kid that was my job. Rinsing them off is one thing, but shouldn't the dishwasher do it's job?

I used to. I kept clean dishes in the washer, never turned it on. Now I don't have one.

No, it's so much easier to just dump everything in the dishwasher and turn it on. The point of the dishwasher is to save you the trouble of washing the dishes yourself.

No, but I will generally rinse them off. Especially if they have something that is likely to stick.

I never have washed the dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and I've never had a problem. I have a whirlpool dishwasher. I use a rinse agent and at intervals, I'll put bleach in the empty dishwasher and let it run through a normal cycle.

I give that job the the hound dogs......LOL......Really tho, I don't use a dishwasher here. I just clean them myself. I even clean the ones at other people's homes who do use a dishwasher, before I use them.

My lover does the dishes. He yells at me for not rinsing them off.
