I have a few guesses. Perhaps a little racism comes into play. And maybe opposing parties, too. What do you think, Rosie?
-
I hope it is because they don't believe in his policies or political viewpoints. They are the only justifiable reasons I can think of.
-
Perhaps they just dont care Rosie.. Happy Monday to you sweet *HUGS*

I wan't the nation to suceed. But I do not agree with Obama's policies. However, when you hear people talk about Obama the first thing they say is he's black and he will do well and not he's got good ideas and will do well.. something is just seems racist/superficial about many of those supporters.

Americans are generally hopeful, optimistic and not suicidal, regardless of how they chose to vote in the election. To date, president-elect Obama has carried out most of his pre-office responsbilities quite nicely, I think, having marginalized the nasty elements that surrounded him during much of the campaign. As to those who claim the American people want a knock-down, ugly fight between the candidates, I don't believe that for one minute! The only people who want that are, say, media types who profit by it...and people who are just naturally hateful. As for the two out of ten, I suspect they are made of of the same ilk who didn't/don't like President Bush, and wanted HIM to fail. With over 305 million people in the country, there's going to be "all kinds".

They are all asking silly questions on AB. :)

i think every american SHOULD want him to succeed. back to reality people want him to fail so they can say told ya so. eight out of 10 sounds high. i want him to succeed for the sake of the united states. i think he will be a horrible president hes a liar and a muslem to start. i think people favor him cause they were so upset bush did what he had to do that they bought into obamas lies. RON PAUL.. WE NEED YA!!!

I hear 'statistics' that say conflicting things every other day. Remember that more than 58,000,000 Americans (46%) voted for the other guy; that's a little more than 20% - or "two out of ten". I am not one of those who voted for Mr. Obama. I ALWAYS want the country to succeed, under his or any other duly elected President's administration. I do not, however, want his policies - as expressed during his campaign - to suceed, as I do not believe that would be in the best interests of our Great Nation. I hope that political expediency and reality will temper his left-leaning philosophy. No incivility intended here RosieGHM; I know you to be courteous and open-minded. I just wanted to point out that one can support their President and the office he represents without patently agreeing with everything that he does. Civil political dissent is one of the things that makes our Country great.

Because that's two questions in one ("What is your opinion of Barack Obama" and "Do you wish to see Barack Obama succeed as President"), it's an unfair question for many. Some will have a favorable opinion of him. Some will have an unfavorable opinion of him. Some will want him to succeed as President. Some will want him to screw up (NOT succeed). And some will have VARIOUS combinations. Far as I'm concerned, no matter WHICH way I voted (I'm registered Republican, BTW), he was duly elected president of the United States of America. I support him, as I would and have ANY of those who had been elected. Whether they were or could/should have been impeached or not, they are the President. We, as Americans, should always defend the office, no matter what we think of the man. Within about 10 minutes of Obama winning, my father (staunch Republican) and I were talking. We both said, now we wait and see. I hope he can do what he says he wants to do, and can help this country get back to where it was. Doesn't matter that our "team" lost or not... Obama is now the President, and it's time to support him. Isn't that the way it should be, no matter WHO wins?

There are dueling philosophies involved. Look under Reagan-Bush-Bush we have seen the national debt grow about $9 trillion dollars. We've had Iran-Contra, 9/11, major recession, 3 wars, stagnant wages, seen the virtual disappearance of savings on the whole (Americans are spending what they earn and then some), our education system fall behind, etc. The Clinton era saw economic growth, a rise in median wages, decreases in crime, no wars, a domestic terrorist attack, an impeachment, a balanced budget, and a budget surplus. Obama represents a return to the economic policies of the Clinton era, which sharply contrasted with the GOP's vision of reality. People who are opposed to Obama are, I suspect, disturbed by the reality that their economic policies have been proven to be completely wrong. Deregulation, starve the beast, live and let die policies haven't worked. And it's more than that. If Obama gets things back on track, what are they going to argue? They need, and some want, him to fail. Then they can argue that taxes were the cause, no matter what Oliver Wendell Holmes said.
