Why would you want to do that?

Why do Buddhists shave their heads? Rather than being a sign of humility, is this not MORE image-conscious, because of the effort required?

As told earlier, I had my training over there.Just wanna be in the place for some more years to master the basics I know.I know a great deal of hype has been spread about them but,the real monks are not those who cause violence.Real monks never do that.
