The attorney will need to know the how it happened, what happened, where you were hurt on your body, had you been drinking booze or doing drugs before it happened, have you seen a doctor, if so what did the doctor say, if not why not? Then he/she will find out if your company really had workers compensation coverage, because some don't buy it. Good luck!

been here, done that for me and it is sill going on. i was struck by lightning at my workplace nearly four years and the hearing has not taken place to date which is not unusual. in a wc case, the most important item is determining when you were injured, was it as a result of a work place situation. the lawyer in most states take wc cases on a percentage basis so the upfront costs are minimal, and also the lawyer has a legit interest in determinig if there is a case at all. you will be asked a number of questions, most certainly centered around your work activities and what you were doing at the exact moment the injury occured. you will be asked if you sought out medical treatment asap, and if you reported the injury to the employer, who in turns notifes the wc carrier. your doctor(s) will be asked to furnish all medical records, and be asked for a prognosis. be sure to get copies of all information, becuase many doctors will report a different account of the injury than what took place. you will need to provide copies of your health insurance plan even though you feel it is a wc case, and copies of any disability insurance. somewhwre down the line, and dependent on your state, there will be a hearing. rest assured it will be a long time. best of luck to you

They're going to want to know all about the circumstances of the accident and they will want to hear from your doctor or see proof you saw one. There is a good series of worker's compensation articles from a top NY state law firm here: http://www.fightingforyou.com/SiteMap/ShowTopic,5,144.html Even if you do not live in New York, you can most likely learn about worker's compensation from them.

Who, what, when, where and why. Be prepared to answer all the above.
