  • I do not have a child. I would only do so if it was necessary to save their life or provide for them in some other way. Or, if they chose to go on to a different path that did not involve college. Not everyone is meant for it, though these days almost everyone needs some type of degree.
  • Very little and for numerous reasons. 1)They probably won't be ready for college by the time they are college age. 2) They can put themselves through college just like I did. It builds character. 3) Though they deserve the best, I cannot afford it and I refuse to feel bad about it.
  • Food and shelter....that or investing with Madoff...big mistake.
  • wow, what happened to the easy questions? My oldest is a school junkie, she is in high school now. She has plans to go to college for the rest of her life. I will do what it takes to grant her wish. She will also need to find ways to help, grants, scholarship, etc.,
  • I would not!
  • Whatever was in my power to provide I would. Education is a precious thing..to be able to facilitate that for your child is ingrained in each parent..at least I think so. It would be a privilege, an honor and would make me most proud to have been able to contribute to educating my child. :)
  • I am working towards a half dozen kids. I currently put away 20$ per child per paycheck via 529. Unfortunately only the first 5k is tax deductible.
  • Well, we are planning for it, and putting money away for it already, HOWEVER, I don't plan on sacrificing a whole lot. I put myself through school, without a nickel from my parents. Put my wife through 2 years of hers, got my own Master's degree, and about to start another one. Builds character, and it actually means something to you if you have to work for it.
  • The same as my P's did. First year,100% Second,75% Third 50% Forth 25% Any further education is totally on us(The kids) Sacrifice for something that they can get loans for,I will offer as my family did,if it isn't enough, they will have to earn their way in this world, without higher education!
  • I would have done anything I needed to do to provide them that opportunity.
  • I don't have a child, but believe me I would do what it takes but never sacrifice his education and future.
  • Well, we've sacrificed a lot of our own money. It's not over yet. I was a PTA president. I always wanted my children to do well in school. Education is important I've always wanted my children to have a better education and more choices than I did, even though I did attend a community college.
  • I paid my own way and that's what I expect of my children.
  • will do whatever it takes
