  • I've seen Yo Mama and its the black people who make jokes about dark skin, that ain't racist.
  • I think Carlos Mencia is one of the worst, but he makes a lot of money, and that is apparently all that counts.
  • I haven't seen anyone but black comedians making racist remarks. I suppose if it is your own kind, it isn't racist? Like a black saying nigger, for instance. It is tacky and uncouth, but it still gets said with nary a raised eyebrow from the black community......except for Bill, of course. And he's right, by the way.
  • Actually, not all blacks find it funny. Many dark-skinned blacks I know laugh when they hear those jokes but they are still hurt by it (often times return the favor by insulting lightskinned blacks as well). That's one of the many things that seemed to go overlooked in the black community. It seems like light-skinned blacks get treated better and no one (a comedian I mean) secondguesses a rude joke about someone darker than them. *EDIT:*: People do complain about TV shows such as that, but I don't think they are as vocal as they need to be. My answer I had written above was not written correctly (as I only gave half of my answer before hitting "submit". But what I meant to say that many blacks, you would think, would ban together and try to stop it...but there seems to be (at least where I am) some type of mentality that many have, esp. if they are lighter blacks (because these jokes don't effect them). Many darker blacks I know just expect people to make comments like that about them...and as for other races, I think it comes down to them not being able to relate. Besides, I've met many families who avoided or didn't talk to darker blacks. It seems like (where I am) the darker you are the more the sterotype applies and therefore people accept these jokes about them with ease.
  • People complain, others just don't care. People complain about a lot of things but that doesn't mean it's going to change. I think some white comedian jokes about blacks are funny (Bill Burr). It's comedy and it's supposed to be funny, if you don't like it, don't watch it, you can't be politically correct when it comes to comedy all the time. Imagine what kind of world we would live in if people complained about stupid things 24/7.
  • I agree with Blackberry... if it's funny it's valid (as long as it swings both ways).
  • If you dont like the JOKES dont watch the shows. I dont look at the comedians as racist, i look at them as comedians trying to get PAID!
  • chris rock is awsome. i think it was bigger and blacker. he talks about the difference between wealthy and rich. and how whites vs blacks spend their money.
  • It's hard to take complaints about "no respect" seriously when you go out of your way to make your culture look foolish. (Have you seen the latest "Medea in prison" ads on TV lately?)
  • when people make fun of their own race, its not really seen as offensive if its supposed to be funny. but some comedians can take jokes like that too far sometimes.
