  • Yes and No. In 2010, right now would be history. But same history cannot. Like we can't have dinosaurs again. But we can have different history.
  • History doesn't repeat itself every situation is a little different but leaders do repeat their mistakes.
  • History is linear. There will be similarities, but they will be compounded and unique.
  • History does indeed repeat itself. In WW1 and WW2 Germany used the same tactic to enter France. They went in the back way through the Netherlands, snuck up behind the french and took them down... in both wars. You think they would have seen it coming the second time? There are probably many other cases but that is the first example that popped into my head.
  • In the main, it is people who affect history. In the main, people are basically reacting to events the same way that they always have... So while historical EVENTS may not replicate themselves, similarity in historical PROCESSESS can be discerned throughout the ages. Hope this helps, damn good question : )
  • Sure. This question is history repeated. ;) I think it's repeated because humans really aren't that different from each other, and when you get them in a group, things average out, so we're even less different. Of course some of the same things are going to happen!
  • In my life yes it does, i seem to go through life changing experiences every 7-9 years, not always exactly the same, but a chain of events that repeat and totally change my life, i dread these cycles as they do come around again in my lifespan.
  • A good example would be Napoleon tried to push himself into Russia and lost, In WW2 Hitler tried it and failed as well due to same reason as before the Russian Winter
  • Well...?
  • Those that don't learn from History are doomed to repeat it. An example would be touching a flame with your finger and getting burned. I you don't learn from this experience you may very well put your finger in a flame again.
  • If a person is ignorant of their own country's history, and have not learned from their past mistakes, it will be more likely to be repeated.
  • They are the same thing, except that the first one almost suggests that it is the history that actively repeats itself, as if it were sentient or something...
  • People will always be people and make the same mistakes over again. Just like many teenagers today are making the same mistakes you made before they were born. We too make the same mistakes that our centuries older brethren made. History does repeat it's self. Reagan said so. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pbp0hur9RU
  • If we don't learn our lessons it does.
  • Only if you allow it..
