Ki does not exist, so you cannot control it. Proper exercise, diet and rest allow you to make progress physically, so forget such absurd imaginary "osu no he" as Ki.
I think that would be a faith thing. If you think it will help you it will.
I doubt there is any scientific evidence that agrees with a mechanism for how these ethereal things will help (other than the placebo effect).
:)
Yes chi is real and it is proven to make you feel less pain and it can make you stronger. It isn't just a faith thing.
I am going to have to disagree with Takei-Shihan. Even with only improved balance, one's ability to jump can be increased as a result of a more efficient use of body power. Combine that with the improvement of the sensory nerves that you speak of, and that increase in proprioceptive ability is bound to help make a person's jumping/running technique more efficient.
Yes and No ... as one progresses through DECADES of Chi control training, one of the things that happens is you bulk up some of your sensory nerves and some of your motor nerves ... a rather vague comparrisson is the huge muscle bound body builder and weight lifter who turns small muscles with little definition into large muscles with excellent definition - then compare that to decades of chi control exercises that changes a hair thin string of nerve cells to a thick rope of nerve cells ... and you may start to get the idea.
Jump higher - NO, or at least a very low probability.
Run faster - probably not, but maybe just a bit due to slightly better control and more self awareness, but the speed increase will be minimal or negligable.
More balance - YES, very much so, as balance is something that requires both the inner ear and all of the body's sensor nerves to determine which way is up as well as centrifical force in turns, twists, spins, etc. and motor nerves to correct the body's positioning in relation to which way is up and which way are forces moving.
... keep your mind even sharper than you keep your sword!
Yes. Very few martial artists can generate and extend their chi at will. Having that level of self mastery would improve your balance and other skills.
Yes. Whatever you want to call it, everyone has a natural balance of power vested in their body. The way you think invariably influences every action your body makes, and can this can be interpreted in on a scale from light to dark, or red to blue, or whatever crazy bullshit some people will try to tell you. Not that it isn't possibly true, but it is definitely confusing. The reason most people don't understand "Chi" is because we already have words for that in English; "your state of mind," or more commonly, "how you feel." Remember the Jedi saying "you must control your emotions"? Come on guys, it's simple stuff. Try meditating. Just sit, float, or lie anywhere and try to feel happy. Very simple. Relax, breathe slowly, and think about something if you really have to because it's broken through and you can't help it, but mostly just breathe slowly, relax, etc. Now you see why they say sleeping is so healthy. Meditation is how I unlearned insomnia, more or less. These are all just little connections. Why are people fat? So they will buy cars, and drive through McDonalds, right? Because SO MANY FOODS WILL MAKE YOU FAT FOR NO REASON. Bread is good for you. But some bread can give you heart disease, and this concept applies to everything. I personally like the local organic bread that is filled with nuts and tasty grains and natural flavorings and stuff. If meditation and/or sleeping enough and not too much doesn't work for you, you don't feel amazing, make better decisions, and feel like you know what's going to happen before it happens, then you may want to try a psychedelic of some sort. The one that really did it for me was mushrooms. They are emotionally brightening, and sometimes stupefying, with a sort of regression to your core which reminds you of everything you value, in a way. And LSD made me think that everything was, and is, everything, figuratively, and literally, more or less. But beyond that, taking mushrooms the fifth time literally shocked me out of my confusion. Suddenly, in the midst of this terrifying and beautiful experience, I realized the answers to every question I could think of, and I knew that time is powerful, and that I was alive. Anyway, what I am saying is yes- you can use Chi, or your emotions, or whatever, to feel better, do better, act better, grow better, be better, learn to play music, or dance, or feel ethereal energies, know kung fu, jump higher, run faster, do not anything, but the best thing you can, and have a sixth sense of where to find it, functioning at maximum positive productivity, and have more balance. Just do it.

Like the Anonymous individual as he is very right. I have been practicing and asking my questions since I was 15 and now 25. The manipulation of this energy brings about higher states of consciousness. It brings you closer to what is called god by going through a period of self realization that you are an extension of god. You are god with a personality. By doing this you need to pay attention to yourself thus your paying attention to what your body needs. Can it make you jump higher and run faster? Not if your body can not handle it. Your still bound in the physical. It can however show you how to run faster and jump higher. You can tell the chi force to condition your body to do whatever you like. It will give the proper technique. If it feels uncomfortable, its not the proper technique. Your comfort is a signal that something is or is not right. You may need to breath deeper or sit more strait. I went from 260 to right now 175 through the use of my bodies energy. After some conditioning I do believe if you focus on your energy you can run faster and jump higher but your body has to be in sync with your mind. One. When you become ONE that filter of doubt that took precocious miliseconds from your decision making process is eliminated. Your ability to focus is magnified. At that level that law of attraction works faster as well. If it is your desire. The more chi you have in your body make the opposite sex very attracted to you. The energy cant be seen but is sensed by all living creatures. What they sense from it is your will and intentions. Your only limited by your imagination.
It will help your balance because it increases your awareness. Controlling your chakras has its own benefits. Controlling your heart will help in connections with people on a soul level. Throat makes you a great speaker. My solar plexus chakra holds clairsentience. others include increased sexual attractiveness clairvoyance/intuition and becoming one with yourself. Each chakra has an ability. Each has a side affect of having to much or to little energy. There is such a thing as having to much energy in your chakras and it can lead to not so desirable outcomes. For example for the crown head if its stimulate you will be aware of the world around you for what it is. If it is over stimulated for long periods of time without grounding hallucinations can be a possible side affect. You will see everything in an extreme spiritual sense.
ki.. i feel is more an understanding of one's body and mind, and using both in unison results in heightened consciousness, using the spirit to perceive the "here and now". i myself are not as smart as i am strong.. so i chose to develop my manipulation of my Own ki to enhance my physical traits. One prime example i have is through fixing aspects of my posture, learning supreme control of my muscles (through extensive practice/trial and error, then from human anatomy books)and learning how/focusing on "feeling" the experience of how the body breaks down/processes vitamins/nutrients/minerals ect.. due to understanding how My body works, i noticed i had increased my body's ability to achieve such things as significantly increased metabolism, "rush" or increase blood pressure significantly at will (though is exhausting!) maintain increased constant cardio exercise through controlled muscle contractions and breathing techniques during everyday activities, and through conditioning my targeted muscles to "strengthen" rather than tear to attain larger size, i am by no means a body builder, but i can however bench my own body weight and manage 5 pull ups (under or overhand..), i'm 24 6'0 and weigh approx. 192lbs, and i Never worked out a single day in my life! i have been learning/developing how to best implement the use of my ki in my everyday life religiously since i was 15 and i am living proof that what is to be understood as "ki/chi/qi gong" is real, and can help in amazing ways. And also, using ki to "help" your mind i have also practiced, however is difficult and requires a great deal of time to develop effective techniques to reach the "heightened consciousness" using Only one's energy and will.. it is much to difficult Not to take from others.. Yes it Is true you can take from those around you to do things such as elevate your own mood, or other's, induce depression, jealously, or anger on/to someone or a large group of people.. i myself focused on the manipulation of others around me normally for my Own selfish benefits or entertainment.. and whether or not you believe in "karma" i paid for my ignorance and misuse of my own skills manifested.
i say it does dont know what level im on but all it is
is controlling that energy that lets you do something then puting that energy into what you want to do at will like jumping: how much energy you want to use to do it where are you jumping and what are willing to sacrifice if you were jumping to save you life you would jump extremly hight because you care not what energy you have but only the energy to make the jump to accomplish that jump its all in your breathing and truly clearing you mind and focusing on what you want to do. like a cat: they are always one step ahead knowing what they want to do before they do it and before it happens
Controlling the ki/chi/chakra is one of the most important things you can ever do in life
Yes according to martial arts experts it does!
Maybe not but it can help you get in touch with your inner child and teach him not to touch himself in public.
well there is also the adrenaline factor, as u all know its like an endless source of energy when its active but draining after.
some people have better control over the rush it gives an individual, size, strenght, mass, psychi(state of mind), u get it.
as people Experience all sort of adventures and incounters that activate the adrenaline, and the rate that they Experience on a daily bases, and the way the body adapts the regular rush, like sky diving, base jumping.
or the incounter side fights etc. and with this situation there is fair chance for the fight or flight, primitive instinct in humans to take effect and there is less concious control/reaction but more subconcious control (motor skills).
Only if you arrange your room according to feng shui.
You are not NEO. There definitely is a spoon.
